The direct answer
Which vegan-friendly hotel in India should you choose?
Choose by itinerary first, then by the exact scope of the food evidence. Indhrivanam in Thekkady states that its food is vegan and dairy-free; Bean Me Up promises vegan food and drinks during its Goa B&B stays; and Dharmalaya serves 100% plant-based food, but only within eligible residential programmes. Veda5, Shreyas, Soma Manaltheeram and several Ayurveda stays need vegetarian-versus-vegan caveats. City and palace hotels remain conventional mixed properties with explicit vegan dishes or advance-request support. “Verified” means that the cited first-party claim and exact property identity were checked on 1 September 2026—not that menus or shared-kitchen procedures can never change.

The 20-stay collection
Vegan and vegan-friendly hotels across India
Every card separates whole food-operation claims, vegetarian kitchens, mixed-hotel options and advance-request support. The seven clusters follow a useful journey rather than pretending India is one compact destination.
1. Delhi & Agra
Pair India’s capital with the Taj Mahal. These are conventional luxury hotels with explicit vegan dining support—not vegan properties.
New Delhi · Golden Triangle gateway
The Oberoi, New Delhi
A polished base near Humayun’s Tomb, India Gate and Lodhi Garden. The hotel’s current FAQ says vegetarian and vegan dishes are available across 360°, Baoshuan and Dhilli. It remains a mixed hotel, so name the meal, ingredients and cross-contact concerns before arrival.
Agra · 600 metres from the Taj Mahal
The Oberoi Amarvilas
The strongest location-led splurge for a short Agra stay. The official property page describes an extensive selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Other menus also contain meat and fish, so the evidence supports choice—not a dedicated vegan kitchen.
2. Rajasthan
Jaipur anchors the classic Golden Triangle; Udaipur adds Lake Pichola and a slower palace-city stay.
Jaipur · resort outside the centre
The Oberoi Rajvilas
A fort-inspired resort about eight kilometres from central Jaipur. Its official FAQ says the restaurants offer vegetarian and vegan dishes alongside Indian and international cooking. Signature menus also include animal products; treat the claim as explicit options within mixed kitchens.
Udaipur · Lake Pichola
The Oberoi Udaivilas
A palace-style base for Udaipur, City Palace and Lake Pichola. The hotel says its culinary team accommodates vegan and allergy-specific requirements and asks guests to share preferences before arrival. This is an advance-request promise, not a permanent vegan menu.
3. Mumbai
Two high-comfort city stays with different locations: Lower Parel for central-city energy and Nariman Point for Marine Drive.
Lower Parel · central Mumbai
The St. Regis Mumbai
A large mixed luxury hotel with multiple restaurants. The hotel has advertised vegan options, but its current principal dining pages do not publish a complete vegan selection. Check the exact outlet, meal period and preparation directly instead of relying on the older profile’s broad claim.
Nariman Point · Marine Drive
The Oberoi, Mumbai
A strong sightseeing and business base in South Mumbai. Fenix’s current dining interface exposes vegan, vegan-modifiable and plant-based filters. The hotel remains mixed, so use those labels to shortlist a dish and confirm its current preparation with the restaurant team.
4. Goa
Vagator suits a food-led North Goa stay; Arambol adds an Ayurveda and yoga retreat close to the beach.
Vagator · vegan restaurant B&B
Bean Me Up
The clearest vegan food-led B&B in this collection. Its official site calls Bean Me Up a vegan restaurant with rooms and promises nourishing vegan food and drinks during the stay, including complimentary breakfast. Rooms are modest; the evidence covers food, not every material or amenity.
Arambol · Ayurveda near the beach
Veda5 Wellness Retreat & Spa
A lake-facing wellness retreat near Arambol Beach. Veda5 markets organic and vegan cuisine, while its wider site calls the kitchen pure-veg or vegetarian. The cautious description is therefore a vegetarian wellness kitchen with explicit vegan meals—not a fully vegan resort.
5. Kerala
Thekkady, Kumarakom and two Ayurveda-coast options answer four distinct itineraries. Evidence ranges from vegan food to advance-request support.
Thekkady · Periyar and spice country
Indhrivanam
A small eco retreat and homestay near Thekkady. Its official site is unusually direct: the food is vegan, defined as vegetarian without dairy products. The menu is intentionally short, so review it before booking and distinguish the vegan food operation from an unverified claim about every room product.
Kumarakom · Kerala backwaters
Niraamaya Backwaters & Beyond
A backwaters wellness retreat for travellers who want Kumarakom rather than the beach. Niraamaya’s current FAQ says its retreats accommodate vegan preferences and personalised nutrition plans. That is useful request-level evidence, but it is brand-wide and the resort serves varied cuisine.
Thrissur coast · Ayurveda programme
The Nattika Beach Ayurveda Resort
A beach-based Ayurveda retreat whose cuisine is tailored to each guest’s constitution and treatment plan. The current cuisine FAQ explicitly says the team can accommodate vegan dietary preferences. Confirm that every prescribed meal excludes dairy, ghee and honey before arrival.
Kovalam coast · Ayurveda beach village
Soma Manaltheeram
A long-established Ayurveda beach stay near Kovalam. The group’s current food page describes the cuisine as purely vegetarian and says several vegan options are available daily. That is stronger than on-request wording, but the vegetarian kitchen can still use dairy.
6. Bengaluru & Karnataka
Two specialist retreats and two conventional luxury bases cover Bengaluru’s edge, the city itself and Coorg coffee country.
Near Bengaluru · yoga wellness
Shreyas Retreat
A residential yoga and Ayurveda retreat outside Bengaluru. Shreyas states that its diet is vegetarian and alcohol-free. Vegan travellers should send their exclusions before arrival; vegetarian does not exclude milk, ghee, curd or honey.
Somashettihalli · rescue-farm stay
The Lilac Farm
A rustic, clean-energy farm stay about an hour from Bengaluru. The owners describe a plant-based lifestyle, cruelty-free produce and a former dairy farm transformed into a rescue farm. Review the current meal plan and stay policy for your dates rather than inferring a hotel-style daily restaurant.
Bengaluru · city luxury
The Leela Palace Bengaluru
A conventional palace-style city hotel with multiple mixed restaurants. The current Leela brand FAQ says its chefs cater to vegan diets and design plant-based menus when requested. Because this is chain-level support, notify this exact property and restaurant before arrival.
Coorg · forest and coffee country
The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary
A large forest resort across coffee plantations, useful for a nature-led Karnataka extension. The specific property page is current; vegan support comes from The Leela’s brand FAQ and therefore needs an exact pre-arrival confirmation for the chosen restaurant and board basis.
7. Himalayas & Rishikesh
Rishikesh and Dehradun suit wellness travel; Palampur and Bir add the Kangra Valley—with one important programme-only distinction.
Rishikesh · Ayurveda and yoga
Veda5 Ayurveda & Yoga Retreat
A Himalayan wellness retreat on Neelkanth Road. The property page says its kitchen serves pure-veg meals, while current Veda5 promotions explicitly mention vegan cuisine. Describe it as a vegetarian Ayurvedic kitchen with vegan meals—not as a fully vegan retreat.
Dehradun · full-board wellness
Six Senses Vana
A full-board wellness retreat on Mussoorie Road, not in Rishikesh proper. Its official dining page explicitly includes vegetarian and vegan options alongside meat, fish and poultry; its cuisine journal says menus help vegan diners choose. Share requirements during the wellness consultation.
Palampur · Kangra Valley
Araiya Palampur
A mountain resort with locally rooted dining and broad vegetarian choice. The current dining page confirms vegetarian dishes but does not establish a dedicated vegan menu. Vegan travellers should therefore send a precise request and receive confirmation before treating breakfast or dinner as solved.
Bir region · programme-only campus
Dharmalaya Institute
Dharmalaya is not a standard hotel and should not be presented with instant room availability. Residential accommodation is tied to eligible courses, retreats, internships or other accepted programmes. For participants, campus food is unusually clear: the FAQ says meals are 100% plant-based, with no dairy, honey, eggs or meat on campus.

Route before room
Plan an India itinerary that stays realistic
India’s distances, traffic, climates and retreat formats make route design more important than collecting hotel names. Build one regional journey at a time and solve early departures, meal plans and dietary wording before paying.
First India journey
Delhi → Agra → Jaipur is the classic Golden Triangle. Add Udaipur only with enough time for a separate flight or rail leg; Mumbai or Goa works better as a distinct second chapter than an improvised detour.
South and wellness
Kochi or Kumarakom → Thekkady → Kerala coast combines backwaters, spice country and Ayurveda. Bengaluru, Coorg and the Lilac Farm form a separate Karnataka route; do not treat every southern stay as nearby.
Himalayan rhythm
Rishikesh/Dehradun and Palampur/Bir solve different journeys. Dharmalaya requires programme acceptance, while Vana is full-board and Veda5 is a retreat—compare formats before comparing nightly prices.
Name dairy and ghee
“Pure veg” means vegetarian, not vegan. Explicitly exclude milk, curd, paneer, butter, cream, ghee and milk powder.
Ask about honey
Ayurvedic and wellness menus may use honey even when a meal is described as natural, sattvic or plant-forward.
Confirm breakfast
A hotel may offer vegan dinner yet have no reliable early breakfast. Ask what your exact room rate includes and request a written meal plan.
Separate allergies
Vegan suitability does not prove allergen control. Discuss shared oil, utensils, buffet spoons and preparation surfaces separately.
How this collection works
Travel value plus exact, current hotel evidence
The seven clusters balance India’s most useful first-time routes with places where current hotel-level food evidence exists. Delhi, Agra and Jaipur form the Golden Triangle; Udaipur answers a distinct Rajasthan trip; Mumbai and Goa provide major western gateways; Kerala and Karnataka cover backwaters, Ayurveda, nature and Bengaluru; and the Himalayan group separates Rishikesh/Dehradun from the Kangra Valley. Tourism relevance earns a destination consideration, but it never proves vegan food.
Each inclusion therefore needs a current source connected to the exact property, its restaurant or a clearly applicable operator policy. Indhrivanam states that its food is vegan and dairy-free. Bean Me Up promises vegan food and drinks during B&B stays. Dharmalaya states that its campus cuisine is 100% plant-based, but access is tied to programmes. Those three claims are useful and still remain narrower than an unsupported statement that every product or amenity is vegan.
Vegetarian kitchens form a second evidence level. Veda5, Soma Manaltheeram and Shreyas provide a meat-free base, yet vegetarian cuisine can contain milk, paneer, curd, butter, ghee or honey. Nattika and Niraamaya explicitly accommodate vegan diets, while Araiya’s current first-party page only confirms broad vegetarian choice. The wording on every card reflects that difference instead of treating “vegetarian,” “vegan-friendly” and “vegan” as synonyms.
Conventional city and palace hotels form the third level. Oberoi properties, The St. Regis, The Leela and Six Senses Vana serve animal products but publish vegan dishes, filters or accommodation policies. Restaurant-specific evidence applies to that outlet; chain-level policy requires confirmation with the exact property. Advance notice matters most at Udaivilas, the Leela properties and any Ayurveda stay where meals are prescribed.
Booking.com is prioritised for price and availability comparison where a stable search route exists. It is never used as proof of food. Bean Me Up, Nattika and Dharmalaya keep direct routes because that better matches their booking model. Dharmalaya is explicitly programme-only, so its “stay” cannot be purchased like a normal hotel night.
ERANDIA remains outside the numbered collection. Its older internal profile is preserved as a transparent legacy lead, but without adequate current first-party evidence it receives no Booking.com button and no schema position. The 20-item count therefore remains exact. All included evidence was checked on 1 September 2026; travellers should recheck menus, ingredients, board basis and cancellation terms before paying.
- Exact hotel, restaurant and menu sources receive the greatest weight.
- Vegan food, vegetarian kitchens and mixed-hotel options remain separate.
- Booking.com supports price comparison, never the dietary claim.
- Programme access, menus and ingredients require a final written check.
Practical answers
Vegan hotels in India: FAQ
Are there fully vegan hotels in India?
This collection does not label any conventional hotel as fully vegan. Indhrivanam explicitly says its food is vegan and dairy-free; Bean Me Up promises vegan B&B food; and Dharmalaya serves 100% plant-based campus cuisine for eligible programme participants. Those are food-operation claims, not automatic guarantees about every amenity or material.
What does “pure veg” mean in India?
“Pure veg” generally means no meat, fish or eggs, but dairy and ghee may still be central ingredients. Vegan travellers should explicitly exclude milk, curd, paneer, cream, butter, ghee, milk powder and honey instead of relying on “vegetarian.”
Which route is best for a first visit to India?
Delhi, Agra and Jaipur form the most efficient first-time route. Udaipur can extend Rajasthan; Mumbai or Goa can add a western chapter. Kerala, Karnataka and the Himalayan clusters work better as separate journeys because transfers are substantial.
Which region has the strongest vegan hotel evidence?
Goa has the clearest food-led B&B through Bean Me Up, while Kerala has the broadest mix of vegan food, Ayurveda and dietary accommodation. The best choice still depends on whether you want beaches, backwaters, wildlife, yoga or a city stay.
Are Ayurveda resorts automatically vegan?
No. Ayurveda resorts may be vegetarian yet use dairy, ghee and honey, and prescribed menus can change by treatment plan. Nattika and Niraamaya say they accommodate vegan diets; Soma confirms daily vegan options. Send precise exclusions before arrival.
Can I book these stays through Booking.com?
Most buttons open Booking.com property searches and may be affiliate links. Bean Me Up and Nattika use direct routes here; Dharmalaya requires a programme inquiry or application. Always match the exact property, board basis, dates and cancellation policy.
Why is Dharmalaya listed as programme-only?
Dharmalaya Institute is an educational eco-campus, not a standard book-any-night hotel. Residential accommodation is linked to eligible courses, retreats, volunteering or other accepted programmes. Its vegan food evidence is excellent, but access must be described accurately.
Why is ERANDIA not included in the 20?
An older internal ERANDIA profile exists, but a sufficiently current first-party hotel source was not available for this launch review. It remains a clearly labelled legacy lead outside the count, without a Booking.com button or schema position.
