What “vegan-friendly” means in these guides

France does not yet have a fully vegan hotel in every major city. The guides therefore separate genuinely vegan properties from conventional hotels that document vegan breakfast, restaurant dishes or advance-request support. That distinction matters: a vegetarian option is not automatically vegan, and a breakfast listing does not guarantee a vegan dinner.

Each recommendation combines current food evidence with a useful location and credible sustainability information. Menus still change, so strict requirements, allergies and cross-contact questions should always be confirmed directly before arrival.

Every guide includes

  • Three selected stays and a numbered overview
  • Exact vegan classification for every hotel
  • Breakfast and on-site dining evidence
  • Location, transport and trip-fit guidance
  • Property-specific or clearly labelled group sustainability measures
  • Official or safely matched booking links

Classification method

Read the label before booking

Fully vegan

The accommodation and its regular food offer avoid animal-derived products.

Vegetarian with vegan dishes

A vegetarian kitchen documents a meaningful vegan selection.

Vegan-friendly

A mixed hotel explicitly provides vegan breakfast or restaurant choices.

Vegan on request

Plant-based food depends on advance notice or current confirmation.

Before arrival

Confirm the details that matter

  • Ask which breakfast items contain dairy, eggs or honey
  • Request dinner adaptations before check-in
  • Discuss allergies and shared preparation separately
  • Recheck seasonal and rooftop restaurant opening dates
  • Verify that certifications and menus are still current

Use the city guides above as your starting point, then confirm current menus, allergy procedures and advance-request options directly with the hotel before booking.

Choose your France trip

Compare all nine city and regional guides, then confirm the vegan details that matter before arrival.
