Your Sri Lanka accommodation hub

Choose your setting.
Make room for good food.

A city hotel, a beach stay and a countryside retreat call for different meal plans. Start with the destination below, then compare what each property's published food offer actually covers.

The collection includes one operator-described vegan hotel, eight other stays with published vegan or plant-based dining arrangements, and four entries where older or incomplete evidence needs stronger confirmation. These are not thirteen fully vegan hotels.

Different offers, clearly explained

A vegan hotel is not the same
as a vegan menu option.

1 · Operator-described vegan hotel

THE SLOW in Mirissa

The operator describes a vegan hotel and an entirely vegan restaurant menu. Room categories and included meals still differ. This is an attributed description, not our independent inspection of every furnishing or toiletry. [R7]

8 · Published dining arrangements

Read what is included

These other stays publish vegan options, a named dining experience, retreat catering or a plant-based breakfast. They are not equivalent offers. In particular, Sri Yoga Shala's café also lists egg dishes despite its plant-based heading. [R9]

4 · Stronger confirmation needed

Resolve the uncertainty

Mount Lavinia, Cinnamon Grand Colombo, Radisson Kandy and Arana remain conditional or dated-evidence entries. A vegetarian menu, an older vegan dish or a guest report does not establish today's complete vegan meal plan.

A distinctive south-coast starting point

Independent hotel stay or residential retreat?

Compare THE SLOW for an independent Mirissa hotel stay with Green Peace Inn's scheduled eight-day retreat in Weligama. The latter advertises brunch and dinner, not an assumed breakfast–lunch–dinner package. Choose the booking format before planning the rest of your trip. [R7] [R8]

A practical starting point

Compare the five destination guides

The numbers describe this editorial collection, not a tourism ranking or measured Google search volume. A published dining offer applies to the named property or venue, not to an entire destination.

The Sri Lanka accommodation collection

13 stays, with the food
evidence beside each one.

Every property in the five local guides appears once in this directory. Follow the full profile for more detail on the accommodation, evidence and questions to ask before booking.

Affiliate disclosure: Booking.com buttons are affiliate links. A qualifying reservation may earn Vegan Lifestyle a commission at no extra cost to you. Eleven buttons open labelled hotel-name searches. THE SLOW uses the property link recorded in the south-coast guide. Green Peace Inn retains its official retreat link because the featured product is a scheduled programme, not an ordinary room offer. No button confirms a vegan meal package.

Colombo & Mount Lavinia

Full destination guide →

01 · Clifford Place, Colombo 04

Published vegan restaurant options

Radisson Hotel Colombo

Dine is explicitly listed with vegan options on the hotel's own dining page. Use that named restaurant as the starting point, then request a complete breakfast and the main meals you need. Do not assume that every other venue or a breakfast-inclusive rate provides the same selection. [R1]

Food basis: Operator vegan-options label for Dine; dishes, service and inclusions to agree.

02 · Dehiwala–Mount Lavinia coast

Undated menu · reconfirm current meals

Mount Lavinia Hotel

The Colombo guide records an explicitly vegan salad in an undated operator PDF stored in a 2023 upload directory. That item is useful to ask about, but neither current availability nor a complete vegan breakfast is established. This is the coastal alternative, not a central-Colombo address. [R2]

Food basis: Dated-context menu evidence retained from the local guide; request a current menu and substantial meals.

03 · Central Colombo

Vegan confirmation required

Cinnamon Grand Colombo

Plates provides a vegetarian-menu lead rather than a confirmed vegan meal arrangement in the local research. Ask the kitchen to describe a substantial breakfast and suitable mains, including their sauces and cooking fats. The central location and number of restaurants do not resolve the ingredient question. [R3]

Food basis: Vegetarian evidence from the local guide; a specific vegan kitchen reply is still needed.

Kandy & countryside

Full destination guide →

04 · Yahalathenna, outside central Kandy

Vegan cuisine at Ayu

Tree of Life Nature Resort

Ayu's dining description expressly includes vegan cuisine. The resort also describes a separate buffet restaurant, so ask which venue serves your agreed meals and whether your room rate gives access to that arrangement. Choose it as a countryside stay rather than a hotel beside Kandy Lake. [R4]

Food basis: Named-restaurant operator statement; breakfast, venue access and supplements separately.

05 · Saranankara Road, Kandy

Vegan confirmation required

Radisson Hotel Kandy

This is the conventional city-hotel candidate in the Kandy guide. Its recorded vegetarian and dietary-request information does not establish complete vegan preparation. Radisson Colombo's explicit vegan label must not be transferred to this separate property. Obtain a named breakfast and dinner selection from the Kandy kitchen. [R5]

Food basis: General dietary and vegetarian information; property-specific vegan meals remain unconfirmed.

06 · Werapitiya countryside, near Theldeniya

Personalised dining · vegan meals mentioned

Santani Wellness Kandy

An operator article published in May 2024 mentions vegan meals, while the local guide records a personalised dining format. Agree your actual breakfast, lunch and dinner rather than assuming a fixed vegan menu. Its countryside setting is distinct from central Kandy, and the dining description is not a promise of health benefits. [R6]

Food basis: Published operator vegan-food reference; the menu and inclusions for your dates need agreement.

07 · Mirissa beachfront

Operator-described vegan hotel

THE SLOW Vegan Hotel

THE SLOW describes a vegan hotel and an entirely vegan restaurant menu, with breakfast, lunch and dinner offered. It is the independent beach-hotel option in the south-coast comparison. Choose the exact room category and confirm which meals your rate includes; a vegan restaurant does not automatically turn room-only accommodation into half board. [R7]

Food basis: Operator-described vegan hotel and restaurant; not an independent whole-property audit.

08 · Weligama

Scheduled retreat with vegan catering

Green Peace Inn

The featured eight-day, seven-night programme includes plant-based brunches and vegan dinners. It is a residential retreat, not a flexible two-night hotel stop or an assumed three-meal daily package. Check programme dates, room format and additional food needs before building the rest of your itinerary around it. [R8]

Food basis: Published retreat catering tied to the programme; verify the exact dates and inclusions.

Official-site exception: scheduled retreat, not an ordinary room offer.

09 · Metaramba, inland from Unawatuna

Plant-based breakfast · mixed café menu

Sri Yoga Shala

The nightly accommodation offer describes a plant-based breakfast at Café Durga. Its café menu also lists eggs and an omelette, so request an explicitly vegan selection rather than treating the entire kitchen as vegan. This is an inland Unawatuna-area stay; classes, other meals and transfers depend on the product you book. [R9]

Food basis: Published plant-based offer with non-vegan items acknowledged; confirm the complete vegan meal.

Ella & Nuwara Eliya

Full destination guide →

10 · Ella

Dated guest evidence · reconfirm

Arana Eco Lodge & Yoga Center

Our Hill Country guide records a vegetarian-accommodation listing and vegan guest reports from 2025. These are useful leads, not a current kitchen commitment. Ask the host to confirm suitable breakfast and dinner, availability on your dates and the arrival route with luggage before relying on meals at the lodge. [R10]

Food basis: Third-party, dated evidence retained from the local guide; a fresh operator reply is required.

11 · Grand Hotel Road, Nuwara Eliya

Vegan-friendly dining · book ahead

The Grand Hotel Nuwara Eliya

The Grand Vegan Garden advertises vegan choices within a small greenhouse dining experience. It seats four and requires reservation and confirmation 24 hours ahead. Reserve the meal separately from the room, and ask what vegan breakfast is available under your ordinary rate. The whole hotel is not described as vegan. [R11]

Food basis: Operator-published dining offer with explicit advance-reservation conditions.

Sigiriya & Dambulla

Full destination guide →

12 · Thalkote, Sigiriya area

Published vegan menu options

Sigiriya King's Resort By Araliya

The resort expressly lists vegan choices in its dining offer, alongside other diets. Ask which dishes will be served for breakfast and the other meals you intend to eat on site. Choose the Thalkote address for your regional plans; a restaurant outlook is not a guaranteed view from every room. [R12]

Food basis: Explicit operator vegan-menu statement; exact dishes and meal-plan inclusions separately.

13 · Kandalama, Dambulla area

Dedicated vegan dining advertised

Amba Yaalu Kandalama

Amba Yaalu advertises a dedicated restaurant for vegan guests. Its page separately describes Bioscope, without clearly identifying that venue as the vegan space. Ask for the restaurant's name, service and access under your rate. This is a Kandalama resort base, not a promise of a fully vegan hotel in central Dambulla. [R13]

Food basis: Dedicated vegan-guest dining advertised by the operator; venue and inclusions to confirm.

Build a trip that suits you

Fewer assumptions.
A more enjoyable stay.

These are editorial planning ideas, not packaged tours or verified transfer schedules. Choose the accommodation and meals you will actually use, then arrange the journeys.

City & coast

Combine a Colombo-area stay with one south-coast base. Decide between independent hotel nights and a scheduled retreat before booking transport. A retreat calendar should shape the wider itinerary, not be squeezed into spare days.

Inland at your pace

Choose between a city-focused Kandy stay and time at a rural retreat. For Ella or Nuwara Eliya, leave room for the travel day. Reserve special dining on a day when an uncertain arrival time will not put the table at risk.

A cultural-region base

Compare Thalkote and Kandalama against your planned outings. Agree breakfast for early starts and leave time to enjoy the resort. Hotel stays do not automatically include attraction tickets, guides or transfers.

Ask for a complete meal

Request a filling breakfast and the lunches, dinners or snacks you plan to eat on site. Specify meat, fish, dried fish, seafood, animal stock, dairy, ghee, butter, eggs and honey. Include sauces, toppings and cooking fats in the enquiry.

Check the actual product

Record the serving venue, advance notice, reservations and supplements alongside the room category. A vegan restaurant is not an included meal; vegetarian and lactose-free labels do not establish vegan preparation. Keep the reservation flexible while essential answers are missing.

We eat vegan, without meat, fish, dried fish, seafood, animal stock, dairy, ghee, butter, eggs or honey. Please describe a complete breakfast and the other meals available for our dates. Which venue serves them, what does our selected rate include, and are advance notice, reservations or supplements required? Please also confirm the exact property address and any arrival arrangements.

Useful answers

Vegan hotels in Sri Lanka: FAQ

Are all 13 properties entirely vegan?

No. THE SLOW is described as a vegan hotel by its operator. Eight other stays publish different vegan or plant-based dining arrangements. Four have older or incomplete evidence requiring stronger confirmation. These categories are not independent whole-property certifications.

Where should I start for an independent vegan beach stay?

The south-coast guide includes THE SLOW in Mirissa, whose operator describes an entirely vegan restaurant menu. Compare it with the other coastal options according to your dates, room needs and desired level of structure. Food inclusions remain part of the rate discussion. [R7]

Which four entries need stronger food confirmation?

Mount Lavinia Hotel, Cinnamon Grand Colombo, Radisson Hotel Kandy and Arana Eco Lodge. Their issues include an undated operator menu, vegetarian-only or general dietary information, and dated third-party reports. The profiles retain these limits rather than turning them into current guarantees.

Is Green Peace Inn an ordinary short hotel stay?

The featured offer is an eight-day, seven-night residential retreat with specified brunches and dinners. Check the current programme dates and inclusions. A room-only booking elsewhere is not a substitute for a place on the programme. [R8]

How do I book the Grand Vegan Garden?

The Grand Hotel advertises four-person seating and requires reservation and confirmation 24 hours ahead. Agree the meal, table and charges separately from the bedroom. Its vegan-friendly dining experience does not automatically describe breakfast under every room rate. [R11]

Are the city-guide hotels all central?

No. Mount Lavinia is a coastal alternative outside central Colombo. Tree of Life and Santani are countryside alternatives to central Kandy. The local guides use the actual hotel locations; the broad city name does not imply a short walk to every attraction.

Does a plant-based breakfast make the whole kitchen vegan?

No. Sri Yoga Shala publishes a plant-based breakfast offer, while Café Durga's menu also lists egg dishes. Specify the full vegan meal. Similarly, a restaurant's dietary label does not establish the ingredients of every service or the meals included in your rate. [R9]

Do the images show the featured hotels?

No. The hero shows Mirissa's coastline and the cards show destination scenery in Colombo, Kandy, Mirissa, Ella and Sigiriya. These are credited archival photographs, not hotel-room photographs, private-beach claims or guaranteed views.

Sources, selection and evidence

Hub compiled on from the five published Sri Lanka guides. The main operator food statements were checked again for the hub; older or third-party evidence is still identified as such. This is desk research, not our own hotel inspection or a written kitchen agreement for your reservation.

Counts refer only to this selected collection. It is not an exhaustive country directory, a measured Google search-volume ranking or a claim that every meal at a featured property is vegan. Menus, restaurant operation and package inclusions can change. The accommodation and dining descriptions do not endorse therapeutic claims made in retreat marketing.
