Vegan Hotels Nova Scotia brings together four stays across Halifax, the Annapolis Valley, Lunenburg and the South Shore. Each property has a current vegan breakfast category, a clearly labelled plant-based dish or an explicit vegan-friendly dining statement.
These are mixed hotels, B&Bs and restaurants—not fully vegan accommodation. Menus in Atlantic Canada are often seasonal, so confirm ingredients, meal times, opening dates and cross-contact directly before travelling.
HOTEL 01 · VEGAN BREAKFAST LISTED
The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites
A classic Halifax city hotel opposite the Public Gardens with vegan breakfast explicitly listed on Booking.com.
The Lord Nelson occupies a strong central position on South Park Street. The Public Gardens, Citadel, Spring Garden Road and waterfront are all accessible on foot, making it the most practical urban base in this province-wide guide.
Booking.com lists vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher and American breakfast. The Arms publishes a mixed menu without a sufficiently stable permanent vegan main, so add the requirement in advance and confirm the cooked dish, plant milk, breads and buffet arrangement.
A special-diet category does not establish a separate kitchen. Guests with allergies or strict cross-contact needs should speak to the restaurant before arrival.
- Classification: Vegan breakfast listed; conventional heritage hotel.
- Vegan highlight: A vegan breakfast category in one of Halifax’s most walkable locations.
- Location: 1515 South Park Street; opposite the Public Gardens and near the Citadel.
- Sustainability: The 2025 policy eliminates single-use plastics from food service, targets low event-food overage and donates safe untouched surplus food.
- Best for: Halifax sightseeing, parks, culture and a first Atlantic Canada city stay.
HOTEL 02 · VEGAN BREAKFAST LISTED
Farmhouse Inn B&B
A small historic B&B in Canning with a Booking-listed vegan breakfast and a strong connection to Annapolis Valley produce.
The inn occupies an 1860s farmhouse at the foot of North Mountain. It is well placed for Wolfville, Bay of Fundy tides, Cape Split, Grand-Pré, wineries and the valley’s farm markets.
Booking.com lists vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free breakfasts with warm dishes and local specialities. The inn describes a homemade breakfast using many locally grown fresh ingredients, but does not publish the exact vegan rotation. Notify the hosts in advance so baking fats, bread, plant milk and the hot course can be confirmed.
This is a conventional B&B serving multiple diets. A vegan breakfast should be treated as an arranged option rather than evidence of a separate plant-based kitchen.
- Classification: Vegan breakfast listed; conventional small B&B.
- Vegan highlight: Homemade vegan breakfast using regional ingredients when arranged in advance.
- Location: Canning, Annapolis Valley; near Cape Split, Wolfville and Bay of Fundy viewpoints.
- Sustainability: Local ingredient sourcing is documented; no current independent property certification was verified.
- Best for: Rural hospitality, wineries, hiking, Fundy tides and a quieter couple’s stay.
HOTEL 03 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY
Salt Shaker Deli & Inn
Four simple rooms above a popular Lunenburg waterfront restaurant with an explicitly vegan main on its current menu.
Salt Shaker sits on Montague Street in UNESCO-listed Old Town Lunenburg, overlooking the harbour. Staying upstairs is especially convenient for a short heritage-town visit, sailing connections and South Shore road trips.
The current official menu labels its Original Pad Thai vegan, built around rice noodles, tamarind and pickled-beet sauce, peanuts, sprouts, carrots, red onion, snap peas and cilantro. Booking.com also states that the restaurant serves vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.
The kitchen is seafood-led and the vegan range is limited. Confirm availability, sauces, frying surfaces and nut concerns directly, and do not expect a dedicated vegan breakfast.
- Classification: Vegan-friendly; small inn above a mixed waterfront restaurant.
- Vegan highlight: A clearly identified vegan Pad Thai on the current official menu.
- Location: Old Town Lunenburg harbourfront, on Montague Street.
- Sustainability: The restaurant highlights local produce and from-scratch cooking; no independent property-wide certification was verified.
- Best for: Lunenburg atmosphere, short South Shore stays and travellers who value location over hotel facilities.
HOTEL 04 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY
White Point Beach Resort
The strongest coastal-resort option, with vegan breakfast listed and vegan-friendly labels on the hotel’s own in-room menu.
White Point occupies a broad oceanfront site on Nova Scotia’s South Shore, roughly ninety minutes from Halifax. Rooms, cottages, vacation homes, glomes and treehouses support everything from family beach trips to a longer nature stay.
Booking.com lists vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free breakfast. The resort’s current in-room dining page also uses a “Vegan Friendly” dietary legend, while Elliot’s menu includes clearly labelled vegan or vegan-option dishes. Because choices and outlets change by season, confirm which restaurant is open and which breakfast items are fully plant based.
The resort serves extensive seafood and animal products. Vegan labels are useful but do not guarantee a separate preparation space.
- Classification: Vegan-friendly; large mixed coastal resort.
- Vegan highlight: Vegan breakfast category plus hotel-published vegan-friendly dining labels.
- Location: Oceanfront near Summerville Centre on the South Shore.
- Sustainability: Green Key Global assessment, documented energy, water and waste practices, EV charging and ongoing carbon-reduction work.
- Best for: Beaches, families, cottages, longer South Shore stays and guests wanting resort facilities.
Choosing a vegan-friendly hotel in Nova Scotia
The Lord Nelson is the most practical Halifax base, Farmhouse Inn suits an Annapolis Valley escape, Salt Shaker puts you directly on Lunenburg’s harbourfront, and White Point is the strongest full coastal resort.
Continue around Atlantic Canada with the New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador guides, or return to the Vegan Hotels Canada hub.
Hotel, menu and sustainability information was checked against current official property pages and Booking.com listings on August 25, 2026. Seasonal opening dates, menus, labels, certifications and availability can change. All featured kitchens handle animal products; reconfirm ingredients, allergens and cross-contact directly before booking or dining.
