Vegan Hotels Manitoba compares five stays with current evidence of plant-based dining in Winnipeg and Pinawa. The selection includes a central luxury hotel, an eco-rated waterfront boutique stay, a railway-era landmark, a tiny historic guesthouse and a full-board boreal retreat.

No featured property is fully vegan or vegetarian. The strongest choices publish several vegan dishes; the smaller stays prepare vegan meals only with notice. Every kitchen handles animal products, so reconfirm ingredients, allergy procedures and cross-contact before booking or dining.

HOTEL 01 · VERY VEGAN-FRIENDLY

Fairmont Winnipeg

The most dependable all-day hotel option in Manitoba, with clearly marked vegan dishes from breakfast through dinner.

Fairmont Winnipeg stands at Portage and Main, beside the Exchange District and a short walk from the riverfront and Canadian Museum for Human Rights. The central position, indoor saltwater pool and full hotel services suit business trips, city weekends and winter visits when short indoor or covered connections are especially useful.

The current breakfast menu marks the Classic Smoothie, Steel Cut Oatmeal and Harvest Fruit Platter vegan; soy, oat and almond milk are also available. Lunch and dinner add labelled choices such as a mezze plate and a Falafel Burger served on a vegan bun. A fruit plate and dark-chocolate torte provide plant-based dessert options.

The Velvet Glove and Lounge remain mixed kitchens serving meat, fish, dairy and eggs. Use the “VG” items, confirm the current burger accompaniments and tell the team about strict allergy or cross-contact requirements.

  • Classification: Very vegan-friendly; conventional luxury hotel with mixed kitchens.
  • Vegan highlight: Labelled vegan smoothie, oatmeal, fruit plate, mezze, falafel burger and dark-chocolate dessert.
  • Location: 2 Lombard Place at Portage and Main; close to the Exchange District and riverfront.
  • Sustainability: Menus emphasise local and certified sourcing; broader Fairmont programmes address food waste and menu carbon measurement, but no current Winnipeg-specific eco-certification was found.
  • Best for: A first Winnipeg visit, business travel, winter stays and guests who want vegan options across the whole day.

HOTEL 02 · VERY VEGAN-FRIENDLY FOR LUNCH AND DINNER

Mere Hotel

A modern waterfront boutique hotel with the broadest dedicated vegan restaurant section in this guide—but no on-site breakfast service.

Mere Hotel sits beside the Red River in Winnipeg’s Exchange District, close to Waterfront Drive, Stephen Juba Park and the walk toward The Forks. The bright, compact rooms and complimentary bicycles suit independent city breaks and summer stays.

Next door, Cibo Waterfront Café publishes a dedicated vegan menu section. Current choices include a Vegan Greek Salad, bruschetta, Mushroom Pizza with vegan cheese, Romesco & Eggplant Pizza, spaghetti aglio e olio and mushroom ragù. That range makes Mere one of Manitoba’s strongest dinner bases for plant-based travellers.

Cibo’s own FAQ says it is not open for breakfast. Guests should plan a nearby café or buy food the night before rather than expect a hotel morning meal. Cibo is also a mixed kitchen, so confirm pizza dough, pasta and shared preparation where required.

  • Classification: Very vegan-friendly for lunch and dinner; conventional hotel beside a mixed restaurant.
  • Vegan highlight: A dedicated vegan menu section with salads, bruschetta, two pizzas and two pasta dishes.
  • Location: 333 Waterfront Drive; beside the Red River and Exchange District.
  • Sustainability: Five Green Key rating, geothermal heating and cooling, heat recovery, LED lighting and high-efficiency windows.
  • Best for: Independent travellers, waterfront walks, boutique design and guests happy to arrange breakfast elsewhere.

HOTEL 03 · VEGAN ON REQUEST

Fort Garry Hotel

A grand Winnipeg landmark near The Forks, best treated as an advance-request choice rather than a guaranteed vegan-menu hotel.

The château-style Fort Garry Hotel opened in 1913 near Winnipeg’s former railway station. It remains one of the city’s most atmospheric stays, with a spa and a walkable position between Downtown, The Forks, the river and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Current public menus show some useful leads but not a complete everyday vegan programme. Breakfast includes oatmeal, while the 2025 brunch menu listed a Beyond Burger with plant-based patty and cheese. The hotel’s July 2026 private-dining package explicitly says vegan modifications are available and includes a mushroom bourguignon with polenta; that package applies to organised private meals rather than ordinary restaurant service.

Contact the Oval Room before arrival and ask what can be prepared at breakfast and dinner for an individual guest. Confirm the oatmeal liquid and toppings, the burger bun and sauces, and whether the private-event dishes are available outside an event.

  • Classification: Vegan on request; heritage hotel with mixed kitchens and limited fixed public-menu evidence.
  • Vegan highlight: Oatmeal, a previously listed Beyond Burger and explicit vegan modifications in the current private-dining package.
  • Location: 222 Broadway; between Downtown and The Forks.
  • Sustainability: Adaptive reuse preserves a major 1913 railway hotel; no current property-specific environmental certification was found.
  • Best for: Architecture, history, spa breaks and guests comfortable confirming meals directly.

HOTEL 04 · VEGAN BREAKFAST ON REQUEST

No. 5 East

An intimate four-room guesthouse in historic East Gate, with vegan breakfast listed on its current Booking.com profile.

No. 5 East occupies a character property in Winnipeg’s East Gate neighbourhood, west of Assiniboine Park and away from the busy Downtown hotel district. With only four rooms, it suits travellers who prefer quiet residential surroundings and personal hosting; a car or transit plan is useful for central sightseeing.

Booking.com currently lists vegan among the available breakfast formats. The property’s own website describes a daily continental breakfast but does not publish the ingredients or a sample vegan plate. State the diet when booking and ask what will be provided—particularly plant milk, bread, spreads, pastries and protein—rather than assuming the standard continental selection is plant-based.

The small scale can make individual arrangements easier, but it also means substitutions may need advance shopping. This is a request-based choice, not a dedicated vegan breakfast kitchen.

  • Classification: Vegan breakfast on request; very small mixed-kitchen guesthouse.
  • Vegan highlight: Vegan breakfast explicitly listed on Booking.com, with the actual selection to be agreed in advance.
  • Location: East Gate, Winnipeg; residential setting near Assiniboine Park.
  • Sustainability: Small-scale adaptive reuse of a historic home; no current third-party environmental certification was found.
  • Best for: Quiet stays, personal hosting, couples and travellers who avoid large hotels.

HOTEL 05 · VEGAN FULL BOARD ON ADVANCE REQUEST

Wilderness Edge Retreat

A rare rural Manitoba retreat that explicitly accommodates vegan group diets across breakfast, lunch, supper and snacks.

Wilderness Edge Retreat is on the Winnipeg River in Pinawa, at the edge of boreal forest and close to Whiteshell Provincial Park. It is oriented toward retreats, workshops, groups and outdoor breaks rather than conventional resort luxury. Room availability and meal packages vary, so individual travellers should check the current format before planning around it.

The retreat explicitly says it accommodates vegan and vegetarian diets for catered groups. Packages can include breakfast, lunch, supper and snacks, which makes it a worthwhile direct-booking exception in a province where documented rural vegan hotel meals are scarce. Dietary details must be supplied ahead of time so the kitchen can build the correct menu.

This is not a vegan property and public sample menus are limited. Ask for the planned plant-based dishes, breakfast format and cross-contact procedures in writing before paying for a meal-inclusive programme.

  • Classification: Vegan full board on advance request; mixed retreat kitchen.
  • Vegan highlight: Explicit vegan catering across multiple meals and snacks when arranged for a retreat or package.
  • Location: 32 Burrows Road, Pinawa; waterfront access near Whiteshell Provincial Park.
  • Sustainability: Nature-based setting and group-scale catering are clear, but no current property-specific environmental certification or quantified programme was found.
  • Best for: Yoga and wellness retreats, outdoor groups, workshops and travellers seeking a rural full-board arrangement.

Choosing a vegan-friendly hotel in Manitoba

Fairmont Winnipeg has the best all-day menu coverage, Mere Hotel leads for vegan lunch and dinner variety, Fort Garry Hotel is the heritage choice, No. 5 East offers a personal breakfast arrangement, and Wilderness Edge Retreat is the strongest rural full-board lead.

Return to the Vegan Hotels Canada hub, continue west with the Saskatchewan guide, or continue east with the Ontario guide.

Hotel, menu and sustainability information was checked against current official property pages and Booking.com listings on August 25, 2026. Menus, dietary labels, certifications, ownership and availability can change. All featured kitchens handle animal products; reconfirm ingredients, allergens and cross-contact directly before booking or dining.
