Vegan-friendly hotels in Lucerne range from a station-side design hotel with a documented plant-based breakfast to an elevated lake-view stay with explicitly marked restaurant courses. AMERON Luzern Hotel Flora has the clearest breakfast statement, Art Deco Hotel Montana publishes the most substantial current à-la-carte choice, and Waldstätterhof combines confirmed menu provision with particularly strong independent sustainability credentials.

No property below is presented as a vegan hotel. Each runs a conventional kitchen or mixed buffet containing animal-derived food, and none documents a separate preparation area. Menus, suppliers and certifications can change; strict vegan guests should confirm breads, pastries, sauces, honey, shared utensils and allergy requirements before arrival, and should state their dietary needs when booking.

HOTEL 01 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY

AMERON Luzern Hotel Flora

The strongest breakfast-led choice, with onsite dining that explicitly describes the AMERON buffet as suitable for vegan and other dietary requirements.

AMERON Luzern Hotel Flora is a contemporary four-star design hotel at Seidenhofstrasse 5, roughly 200 metres from Lucerne railway station. Chapel Bridge, Lake Lucerne, the Old Town and the Rosengart Collection are close enough to reach on foot. The central position makes the hotel especially practical for a short city break, rail arrival or car-light itinerary.

The onsite BACiO della MAMMA restaurant says its AMERON breakfast buffet caters for vegan, vegetarian, lactose-free and gluten-free guests as well as other specific needs. It also says the buffet focuses on regional products. Individual vegan items are not listed, however, and the wider restaurant uses eggs, dairy, meat and fish. Ask staff to identify suitable breads, pastries, spreads and hot food, and request separate utensils when cross-contact matters.

The hotel publishes GreenSign certification and participation in Switzerland’s Swisstainable programme. BACiO della MAMMA also encourages guests to take uneaten meals away free of charge as an anti-food-waste measure. The GreenSign registry showed the present certificate valid through 30 September 2026 at the time of checking, so readers using this guide after that date should verify whether it has been renewed.

  • Classification: Vegan-friendly; design hotel with a conventional restaurant and mixed breakfast buffet.
  • Vegan highlight: Officially documented vegan breakfast provision at the onsite AMERON buffet.
  • Location: Seidenhofstrasse 5, around 200 metres from the station and a short walk from Chapel Bridge and the Old Town.
  • Sustainability: GreenSign certification, Swisstainable participation, regional breakfast sourcing and an anti-food-waste takeaway policy.
  • Best for: Rail travellers, first-time visitors, contemporary design and the clearest documented breakfast provision.

HOTEL 02 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY

Art Deco Hotel Montana Luzern

The best option for a special dinner, with a current Scala menu that marks vegan starters, soup, a composed main course and dessert.

Art Deco Hotel Montana occupies an elevated position at Adligenswilerstrasse 22 above the Lake Lucerne promenade. Its rooms, penthouse suites, terraces and restaurants look across the lake, city and Central Swiss Alps, while the Old Town remains accessible from this quieter hillside setting. The hotel best suits couples, celebrations and travellers willing to spend more for views and full-service dining.

Scala’s current à-la-carte menu uses a dedicated symbol for vegan dishes. At the August 2026 check, marked choices included king oyster mushroom with tomato salad, lemongrass soup, a cauliflower main with zucchini flowers, cashew, miso, pine nuts and apricot, and an almond, chocolate and coconut dessert with raspberry sorbet and peach. The same menu contains extensive meat, fish and dairy choices, and seasonal dishes rotate, so confirm the current selection and allergy handling when reserving. An equally explicit vegan breakfast statement was not found.

The property reports Swisstainable Level III – Leading, the programme’s highest tier, and GreenSign certification. GreenSign’s registry listed its certificate as valid through 20 February 2029 when checked. These credentials support a strong sustainability classification, but they do not establish separate vegan food preparation or make every restaurant outlet equally suitable.

  • Classification: Vegan-friendly; upscale hotel with a mixed fine-dining restaurant.
  • Vegan highlight: Explicitly marked starter, soup, cauliflower main course and dessert on Scala’s current à-la-carte menu.
  • Location: Adligenswilerstrasse 22, above the lakeside promenade with panoramic lake, city and mountain views.
  • Sustainability: Swisstainable Level III – Leading and a current GreenSign certificate listed through February 2029.
  • Best for: Celebrations, romantic stays, lake views and the most substantial documented onsite dinner.

HOTEL 03 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY

Waldstätterhof Swiss Quality Hotel

The strongest rail-and-sustainability combination, with official confirmation of vegan dishes and a kitchen that adapts meals on request.

The historic three-star-superior hotel stands at Zentralstrasse 4, approximately 100 metres or a three-minute walk from Lucerne railway station. Chapel Bridge, the boat pier, KKL cultural centre and Old Town are readily walkable. This is the most convenient option for an early train, a short stopover or travellers who want to explore Lucerne and the surrounding mountains without a car.

The hotel’s FAQ states that Restaurant Gleis 1 has vegan dishes on its menu. Its restaurant page adds that the largely homemade kitchen can accommodate vegan requests with flexibility. This is credible evidence of onsite provision but not a promise of a particular dish every day. The published breakfast description does not confirm a complete vegan breakfast, and the visible weekly menu at the review date used a vegetarian rather than vegan category. Notify the hotel in advance, especially for breakfast, half-board or Sunday stays; Gleis 1 normally closes after breakfast on Sundays.

Waldstätterhof was re-certified ibex fairstay Gold in November 2025 and is classed Swisstainable Level III – Leading. A 2026 Swiss Tourism Federation case study documents local suppliers, in-house preparation, smaller portions and flexible banquet service to reduce waste, energy and emissions targets, reduced single-use products, refill systems and youth training. This is the most detailed independently documented operational programme among the three properties.

  • Classification: Vegan-friendly on request; conventional hotel and restaurant with changing mixed menus.
  • Vegan highlight: Official confirmation of vegan menu dishes and flexible adaptations from the Gleis 1 kitchen.
  • Location: Zentralstrasse 4, around 100 metres from Lucerne station and within easy walking distance of the lake and Old Town.
  • Sustainability: ibex fairstay Gold, Swisstainable Level III – Leading, local sourcing, resource management, food-waste controls and social training.
  • Best for: Train arrivals, short stays and travellers prioritising independently documented sustainability practices.

Choosing a vegan-friendly hotel in Lucerne

AMERON Luzern Hotel Flora is the clearest choice when breakfast matters most, Art Deco Hotel Montana Luzern offers the strongest documented dinner and lake-view experience, and Waldstätterhof Swiss Quality Hotel is the best match for train convenience and independently verified sustainability. In every case, advance notice remains sensible because menus are mixed and plant-based provision varies in detail.

For meals away from the hotel, Karls Kraut describes itself as Lucerne’s first fully plant-based and natural restaurant, while tibits operates a vegetarian and vegan buffet in the city. Opening hours, dishes and reservation requirements can change, so check directly before making a special journey.
