Vegan breakfast & brunch in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City has one unusually flexible all-day breakfast choice and a later weekend brunch option. The other profiles are better treated as lunch, dinner or dessert stops.

All-day breakfast

Vertical Diner publishes an 8am opening and keeps breakfast on the menu all day, making it the easiest early option in the guide.

Weekend brunch downtown

Zest currently opens at 10am on Saturday and Sunday and publishes brunch service. Remember that the venue is 21+ only.

Lunch, not breakfast

Buds and All Chay start later, while Vegan Daddy Meats begins at 11am most days and later on Tuesday.

Dessert comes later

Monkeywrench is an afternoon/evening ice-cream stop rather than a breakfast venue.

Plan your Salt Lake City food stops

Use these as meal-planning ideas, not timed routes. Check your starting point, exact address and current service window before setting out.

Separate Salt Lake City from South Salt Lake

Vertical Diner is inside Salt Lake City; the newer Vertical Deli is in the separate municipality of South Salt Lake and is not profiled here.

Use exact current status

Mark of the Beastro and Passion Flour Patisserie are intentionally absent because they closed in 2026. This guide prioritizes currently operating businesses.

Check conflicting hours

All Chay and Vegan Daddy have current sources with slightly different service windows. Their cards call out the uncertainty instead of presenting a guessed schedule.

Plan around age and format

Zest is 21+, Buds is quick-service, and Monkeywrench is a walk-up dessert shop. Pick the experience before routing across town.

Salt Lake City vegan dining FAQ

Which Salt Lake City places here are fully vegan?

Vertical Diner, Buds, All Chay, Vegan Daddy Meats and Monkeywrench explicitly operate vegan or fully plant-based menus. Current Visit Salt Lake guidance describes Zest as 100% vegan and gluten-free.

Where should I go for vegan breakfast?

Vertical Diner is the strongest early option because it opens at 8am and serves breakfast all day. Zest offers weekend brunch from a later 10am start and is 21+ only.

Is Zest fully vegan?

Current Visit Salt Lake guidance describes its menu as 100% vegan and gluten-free. Older third-party restaurant descriptions may still use “vegetarian,” so this guide relies on the newer local tourism guidance.

Why is Mark of the Beastro missing?

The Salt Lake Tribune reported in June 2026 that Mark of the Beastro would remain closed after shutting in October. It is therefore not presented as a current restaurant.

Why is Passion Flour Patisserie missing?

Current vegan listings report that Passion Flour closed in early 2026, so it is not included as an operating recommendation.

Can I use this guide without Google Maps consent?

Yes. All written restaurant details and ordinary links remain available. Google photos and mini-maps are optional external content controlled through the normal cookie settings.

Research notes & image credit

Checked 19 September 2026. Official restaurant sites, Salt Lake City resources and current Visit Salt Lake guidance were prioritized. This is desk research, not a claim of personal visits or a live reservation. Hours, menus, specials and service policies can change after the research date.

Current sources conflict slightly on some service windows. Those uncertainties are stated in the relevant restaurant cards instead of being silently resolved. Vegan descriptions refer to menu ingredients, not allergy-safe preparation.
