Vegan Hotels Québec compares five stays beyond Montreal, spanning Québec City, Outaouais, the Eastern Townships, the Laurentians and Charlevoix. Each property has current evidence of vegan breakfast or restaurant service, and the route works as a set of individual getaways or a wider road trip.

None of the five is a fully vegan hotel. The listings distinguish a published vegan dinner menu from a Booking.com dietary category and an option prepared on request. All kitchens are mixed and menus change seasonally, so contact each property about ingredients and cross-contact before committing to a meal plan.

HOTEL 01 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY, ADVANCE REQUEST

Hôtel des Coutellier

A compact Québec City hotel with vegan breakfast listed and two named environmental certifications.

Hôtel des Coutellier stands on Rue Saint-Paul just outside the fortified Old City. The Old Port, market district, cruise terminal and Gare du Palais are close by, while Château Frontenac and Petit-Champlain remain walkable without placing the hotel in the busiest tourist streets.

Booking.com currently lists vegan and gluten-free versions of the included continental breakfast, delivered in a bag to the room. The official description of the standard basket names croissant, muffin and yogurt, so it is not vegan by default. Ask the hotel to record a vegan basket before arrival and confirm which baked goods, spread and yogurt alternative will be supplied.

The breakfast is prepared within a conventional operation and no separate plant-based kitchen is claimed. The attraction is a confirmed request pathway and included delivery, not a broad vegan buffet.

  • Classification: Vegan-friendly on advance request; mixed hotel breakfast with a vegan version listed.
  • Vegan highlight: Included vegan continental breakfast delivered to the room, subject to documented substitutions.
  • Location: 253 Rue Saint-Paul, Québec City; near Gare du Palais, the Old Port and the fortified city.
  • Sustainability: The hotel currently reports both Biosphere Certification and Green Key Certification.
  • Best for: Car-free Québec City weekends, rail arrivals and travellers who prefer breakfast in the room.

HOTEL 02 · VERY VEGAN-FRIENDLY

Fairmont Le Château Montebello

The clearest on-site dinner choice in this Québec guide, with a dedicated vegan menu and unusually detailed environmental reporting.

The vast cedar-log resort sits beside the Ottawa River in Montebello, around an hour from Ottawa and about 90 minutes from Montreal. Pools, spa, golf, trails and winter activities make it a destination stay rather than a simple overnight stop; Manoir-Papineau and Parc Omega can anchor a wider Outaouais itinerary.

Aux Chantignoles currently links a separate vegan menu for dinner. That is stronger evidence than a generic promise to handle dietary requests, although the vegan menu is explicitly dinner-only. Breakfast and brunch are mixed services and should be checked independently rather than assumed to offer the same selection.

The restaurant handles meat, fish, dairy and eggs. Ask whether the vegan dinner dishes and any breakfast adaptation can be prepared with suitable separation, particularly where allergy-level cross-contact matters.

  • Classification: Very vegan-friendly at dinner; conventional resort with mixed kitchens.
  • Vegan highlight: A dedicated vegan dinner menu at Aux Chantignoles, currently linked from the official restaurant page.
  • Location: 392 Rue Notre-Dame, Montebello; Ottawa River resort near Manoir-Papineau and Parc Omega.
  • Sustainability: On-site composting since 2005, food-waste monitoring, a kitchen garden, surplus-food redistribution, water and heat-recovery measures, EV charging and published 2025 reductions.
  • Best for: Resort weekends, families, nature activities and travellers who want a documented vegan dinner without leaving the property.

HOTEL 03 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY

Manoir Hovey

A high-end lakeside retreat in the Eastern Townships whose current Booking listing confirms vegan restaurant options.

Manoir Hovey overlooks Lake Massawippi outside North Hatley. The setting suits a slow country escape built around the spa, lake, gardens and regional drives, with Sherbrooke and the village of Magog accessible for travellers exploring the wider Eastern Townships.

Booking.com currently describes the on-site restaurant as serving local cuisine with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options; OpenTable also marks Le Hatley as vegan-friendly. The official property pages emphasise seasonal Québec terroir but do not publish a stable vegan dish list, so request the current plant-based breakfast and dinner possibilities before booking a dining package.

Le Hatley is a fine-dining mixed kitchen and its core identity is not plant-based. A vegan tasting sequence may require advance notice, and strict diners should confirm stock, sauces, garnishes and preparation separately.

  • Classification: Vegan-friendly; luxury country hotel with vegan restaurant options documented by current booking platforms.
  • Vegan highlight: Vegan adaptations within Le Hatley’s seasonal local-cuisine service, best arranged before arrival.
  • Location: 575 Rue Hovey, North Hatley; directly on Lake Massawippi in the Eastern Townships.
  • Sustainability: The hotel supports the 12 Relais & Châteaux sustainability commitments developed with UNESCO, covering biodiversity, cultural heritage and responsible gastronomy.
  • Best for: Romantic lakeside escapes, spa stays and a food-led Eastern Townships itinerary.

HOTEL 04 · VERY VEGAN-FRIENDLY

StoneHaven Le Manoir

A historic Laurentians manor whose own sustainability programme explicitly includes vegetarian and vegan menu options.

StoneHaven stands above Lac des Sables in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, with formal gardens, wooded trails, a spa and hammam. It is a quieter, design-led Laurentians alternative to the busier Tremblant pedestrian village and works well as a stop between Montreal and Mont-Tremblant.

The official sustainable-development page states that the restaurant menu includes vegetarian and vegan options, while Booking.com currently lists vegan service within its French restaurant. Because the published dishes change with the Québec seasons and are not all individually labelled online, ask for the current vegan breakfast, lunch and dinner choices when reserving.

The cuisine also foregrounds fish and other animal products, and vegan service takes place in the same kitchen. Confirm advance notice, course count and cross-contact procedures rather than assuming the entire tasting structure can be converted on the day.

  • Classification: Very vegan-friendly by request; Relais & Châteaux hotel with mixed fine-dining kitchen.
  • Vegan highlight: Vegan choices are explicitly included in the property’s own restaurant and sustainability commitments.
  • Location: 40 Chemin du Lac-des-Sables, Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts; lakeside Laurentians setting north of Montreal.
  • Sustainability: Food-waste sorting, recyclable and compostable serviceware, reusable containers, 85% collaboration with Laurentides producers and 100% Québec suppliers, as reported by the hotel.
  • Best for: Spa breaks, anniversaries, quiet luxury and travellers combining Montreal with the Laurentians.

HOTEL 05 · VERY VEGAN-FRIENDLY

Les Balcons

An affordable, community-rooted Baie-Saint-Paul hostel whose own bistro page promises plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.

Les Balcons occupies part of the former convent complex in central Baie-Saint-Paul, close to the contemporary-art museum, galleries, the rail stop and a walking route towards the river. Private rooms, dormitories, shared kitchens, coworking space and cultural programming make it the most social and budget-conscious property in this guide.

The official bistro page says its menu offers plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices made with local Charlevoix ingredients. Booking.com likewise lists vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free restaurant service for brunch, lunch and dinner. Because the menu changes seasonally, check the current vegan dishes and bistro opening days before arrival; the communal kitchens also provide a useful self-catering fallback.

The bistro is a mixed kitchen and serves animal products. Confirm sauces, fryer use and preparation if cross-contact matters, and remember that a continental breakfast fee does not automatically mean a vegan breakfast is included.

  • Classification: Very vegan-friendly; hostel with a mixed community bistro and shared self-catering kitchens.
  • Vegan highlight: Multiple vegan choices explicitly promoted by the official bistro, plus vegan service documented by Booking.com.
  • Location: 63 Rue Ambroise-Fafard, Baie-Saint-Paul; central for galleries, cultural venues and Charlevoix excursions.
  • Sustainability: Strong local-producer sourcing, adaptive reuse, communal facilities and an on-site thrift shop are documented; no independent environmental certification was verified.
  • Best for: Budget travellers, solo trips, cultural events, hikers and guests who value self-catering flexibility.

Choosing a vegan-friendly hotel in Québec

Hôtel des Coutellier is the most practical city stop, Fairmont Le Château Montebello has the clearest published vegan dinner, Manoir Hovey excels for an Eastern Townships food-and-spa escape, StoneHaven pairs Laurentians luxury with detailed local sourcing, and Les Balcons is the affordable, social Charlevoix choice with the broadest official vegan wording.

For the province’s largest city, use the separate Vegan Hotels Montreal guide. You can also return to the Vegan Hotels Canada hub or continue east with the New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island guides.

Hotel, menu and sustainability information was checked against current official property pages and Booking.com listings on August 25, 2026. Menus, dietary labels, certifications, ownership and availability can change. All featured kitchens handle animal products; reconfirm ingredients, allergens and cross-contact directly before booking or dining.
