Looking for vegan-friendly hotels in Foz do Iguaçu? This guide compares Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel, inside the Brazilian national park, with Sanma Hotel near its entrance. Both deserve a specific food enquiry: Belmond publishes explicitly vegan desserts, while Sanma has a vegan breakfast category on Booking.com. A complete current vegan meal arrangement was not established for either hotel.
What is actually confirmed about the food?
At Hotel das Cataratas, the evidence is item-level and limited. Ipê's menu names vegan desserts, but its vegetable-led mains and VG symbols must not automatically be treated as vegan. Sanma's platform breakfast label is a lead to verify with the kitchen. This is an accommodation comparison with clear checks, not two fully verified all-meal vegan recommendations. [F1] [F3]
Disclosure: both Booking.com buttons are affiliate links to matched property pages. A qualifying reservation may earn Vegan Lifestyle a commission at no extra cost to you. The links do not guarantee room availability, a vegan menu, park admission or an excursion.
Two locations, two food enquiries
Choose the location for your actual itinerary
Belmond identifies Hotel das Cataratas as an in-park property and describes Ipê as a poolside restaurant serving the main daily meal services. That distinctive location is a reason to consider the stay, but it does not establish what every room overlooks or which access arrangements are included in your quote. [F2]
Sanma is the alternative near the Brazilian park entrance, rather than accommodation inside the park. Use its full address when planning airport arrival, visits and evening meals. Neither hotel should be described simply as an interchangeable central-Foz address. [F3]
Our editorial suggestion is to work out how much time you want at the hotel and how many outings you plan before comparing rates. A panoramic waterfall photograph shows the destination, not the view you will necessarily have from your bedroom.
Hotels to investigate for a vegan waterfalls trip
Stay 01 · Published vegan desserts · complete meals unconfirmed
Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel
Location: inside Iguaçu National Park, Brazilian side
Best fit to investigate: an in-park hotel stay after confirming a complete vegan menu
The operator-linked Ipê lunch menu expressly describes a vegan chocolate-and-orange mousse and a vegan coconut panna cotta. These are genuine named vegan items. However, the menu's VG legend means vegetarian, not vegan. Plantain moqueca and vegetable dishes therefore remain preparations to discuss, not automatically confirmed vegan main courses. [F1]
This distinction is central to the recommendation. A dessert is not enough for a dependable dinner, and the absence of an obvious dairy ingredient in a dish name is not a full recipe check. Ask the kitchen for a substantial main, the rice or other accompaniment, sauce and cooking fats, along with the ordinary breakfast.
Ipê's operator page describes a poolside setting and several daily services. Direct the first enquiry to that named venue, then identify any other restaurant or room-service arrangement you actually intend to use. Do not assume identical dishes across the property. [F2]
Our suggested approach is to keep the room decision conditional on the food reply when meals at the hotel are essential to your trip. Request the menu for your dates, any advance ordering and the charges. Confirm arrival and park-related arrangements at the same time, without treating an appealing location as proof that admission or transfers are included.
Stay 02 · Platform-listed vegan breakfast · confirm first
Sanma Hotel
Location: near the Brazilian national-park entrance, Foz do Iguaçu
Best fit to investigate: a hotel base outside the park with breakfast agreed in advance
Sanma's matched Booking.com listing includes vegan among its breakfast categories. An itemised current vegan menu from the operator was not established in this check. The platform label is therefore a useful enquiry lead, not a confirmed full-day food arrangement. [F3]
Ask the hotel to explain the morning meal in concrete terms: a filling savoury option, suitable bread or another accompaniment, and the drink you prefer. Check whether alternatives are available routinely or require notice, and whether they belong to the breakfast-inclusive rate you are considering.
For a stay built around outings, the timing can matter as much as the selection. Discuss any earlier service or packed food before planning a departure that misses breakfast. A general dietary category does not establish that the kitchen can serve every requested meal at any hour.
Choose the room and shared facilities independently of the food evidence. Our suggested use is one regional base with planned excursions and selected hotel meals. Establish lunch and dinner separately, keeping the reservation flexible while essential answers remain unresolved.
Ask for a complete meal, not just a label
What the reply should cover
At Belmond, clarify the mains and breakfast rather than relying on the vegan desserts or VG symbols. At Sanma, ask for the dishes behind the platform breakfast category.
Check stock, dairy, butter, eggs, honey and cooking fats, including accompaniments. Record the venue, notice period and any supplement alongside the room and access arrangements.
A message for the hotel
We eat vegan, without meat, fish, seafood, animal stock, dairy, butter, eggs or honey. Please describe a substantial breakfast and complete main meals for our dates. Which dishes and accompaniments are suitable, what does our selected rate include, and are advance orders needed? Please confirm arrival and park-related arrangements separately.
Plan the waterfalls and the hotel together
Our editorial suggestion is to allow margin around your principal outing rather than schedule every meal against a tight return time. Arrange the arrival-night dinner and departure-day breakfast first, then decide which other hotel meals will genuinely be useful.
Visiting another side of the falls, adding a guided trip or crossing a border requires separate planning. Check current visitor requirements and transport with the relevant authorities and providers. This article does not verify entry documents, park opening hours, after-hours access, water levels or transfer schedules.
For a very different second part of a Brazil trip, compare the Paraty coast guide or the Porto de Galinhas and Maragogi stays. Those are separate journeys, not included extensions of a waterfalls booking.
Vegan-friendly Foz do Iguaçu hotels: FAQ
Are these two hotels fully verified for vegan meals?
No. Belmond has explicitly vegan dessert items but a complete meal plan was not established. Sanma has a platform vegan-breakfast label requiring kitchen confirmation. The limitations are part of each profile.
Does VG mean vegan on Ipê's menu?
No. Its legend identifies VG as vegetarian. Use the expressly vegan item descriptions and ask about complete recipes for other dishes. [F1]
What is the vegan evidence for Sanma?
Booking.com lists vegan breakfast. That is not an itemised operator menu or a personalised dietary agreement for your dates. [F3]
Are both hotels inside Iguaçu National Park?
No. Hotel das Cataratas is inside the Brazilian park; Sanma is near its entrance, outside the park. Confirm each hotel's access and arrival arrangements separately.
Does the room price include park entry and transfers?
Do not assume so. Check the exact rate and ask what is included, which arrangements you must make separately and whether there are additional charges.
Are these hotels in Brazil or Argentina?
Both profiles are on the Brazilian side in the Foz do Iguaçu area. They are not Puerto Iguazú hotel recommendations.
