Vegan Hotels Calgary compares four stays with current, documented plant-based breakfast or dining options. The list ranges from a landmark railway hotel and a design-led East Village base to a downtown pool hotel and a practical airport stay.
None is a fully vegan or vegetarian hotel. Every kitchen handles animal products, and some evidence comes from Booking.com meal categories rather than a fixed vegan menu. Reconfirm ingredients, buffet separation and allergy procedures directly before arrival.
HOTEL 01 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY
Fairmont Palliser
Calgary’s classic downtown landmark also has the strongest all-round plant-based hotel menu in this comparison.
Fairmont Palliser stands beside Calgary Tower and the convention district, a short walk from Stephen Avenue and the CTrain. Its grand public rooms, pool and spa make it a natural choice for a heritage-led city break or a special occasion.
Booking.com currently lists vegan breakfast. More importantly, Hawthorn’s own menu marks steel-cut oatmeal, coconut-yogurt granola parfait, seasonal fruit, a smoothie bowl and breakfast potatoes as plant based. Avocado toast can be ordered with mung-bean scramble, while lunch and dinner add plant-based bowls, penne all’arrabbiata, zucchini and a king-oyster-mushroom main.
The restaurant is a mixed kitchen and the buffet is not fully plant based. Ordering from the labelled à-la-carte selection is the clearest option; discuss bread, sauces and shared equipment when strict separation matters.
- Classification: Vegan-friendly; luxury hotel with mixed kitchens.
- Vegan highlight: Several labelled plant-based breakfasts plus substantial lunch and dinner choices.
- Location: 133 9 Avenue SW; beside Calgary Tower, Stephen Avenue and CTrain links.
- Sustainability: Hawthorn states that it sources local and sustainably certified produce, coffee and tea; external hotel listings also report current Green Key participation.
- Best for: Historic luxury, first visits and travellers who want the broadest documented menu.
HOTEL 02 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY
Alt Hotel Calgary East Village
A modern river-neighbourhood hotel whose adjoining restaurant documents creative vegan dishes beyond breakfast basics.
The Alt occupies East Village beside the Bow River pathway, Central Library and Studio Bell. Downtown remains walkable, but the setting feels more contemporary and relaxed than Calgary’s business core.
NUPO, connected to the hotel, publishes clearly vegan or plant-based preparations including wild-mushroom rolls with vegan truffle aioli, sweet-potato and kimchi gyoza, and a braised daikon steak. The exact menu changes with the restaurant’s Japanese-influenced seasonal approach, so confirm current dishes and breakfast arrangements before arrival.
NUPO also serves fish and other animal products. This is a vegan-friendly restaurant partnership, not a vegan hotel, and cross-contact should be discussed directly.
- Classification: Vegan-friendly; conventional hotel with a mixed adjoining restaurant.
- Vegan highlight: Creative savoury dishes such as mushroom rolls, vegetable gyoza and braised daikon.
- Location: East Village; near the river, Central Library, Studio Bell and City Hall CTrain.
- Sustainability: Germain Hotels lists the property at 4 out of 5 Green Keys and documents group-wide energy, water and waste measures.
- Best for: Design, riverside walks, architecture and travellers who value dinner over a large buffet.
HOTEL 03 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY
Hotel Arts
A lively Beltline hotel with an explicitly vegan oatmeal at breakfast and two clearly labelled all-day plates.
Hotel Arts sits near the BMO Centre, Stampede Park and the southern edge of Downtown. Its year-round poolside patio and art-led rooms suit event weekends, couples and guests who want restaurants and nightlife close by.
The current in-room menu marks Mixed Berry Oatmeal vegan and gluten-free. Later in the day, guacamole with tortilla chips and grilled corn ribs with chilli-lime coconut cream are also labelled vegan. The choice is smaller than at Fairmont Palliser, but the labels are direct and available through room service.
The remaining menu is mixed and several vegetarian dishes contain dairy or eggs. Order only the specifically vegan-labelled choices and confirm preparation when cross-contact matters.
- Classification: Vegan-friendly; design hotel with mixed restaurants and room service.
- Vegan highlight: Vegan mixed-berry oatmeal, corn ribs and guacamole.
- Location: 119 12 Avenue SW; near Stampede Park, the BMO Centre and 17th Avenue.
- Sustainability: No current independent property certification was verified; the hotel does offer loan bicycles for short urban journeys.
- Best for: Events, nightlife, poolside atmosphere and a clearly labelled breakfast delivered to the room.
HOTEL 04 · VEGAN BREAKFAST LISTED
The Westin Calgary Airport
The practical airport option, selected because Booking.com explicitly lists vegan breakfast rather than relying on a generic special-diet promise.
The Westin lies north of the city centre near Calgary International Airport. It suits early departures, late arrivals, business trips and road travellers who prefer a full-service hotel with a pool and fitness facilities.
Booking.com currently lists continental, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, American and à-la-carte breakfast formats. The hotel does not publish a sufficiently detailed fixed vegan menu, so note the requirement in the reservation and ask what hot dish, plant milk, bread and buffet items will be available.
A listed meal category does not prove a separate preparation area. Guests with allergies or strict cross-contact requirements should contact the kitchen before check-in.
- Classification: Vegan breakfast listed; conventional airport hotel.
- Vegan highlight: A vegan breakfast category alongside à-la-carte service.
- Location: Near Calgary International Airport, north of Downtown.
- Sustainability: No sufficiently detailed, current property-specific certification was verified for this guide.
- Best for: Flights, short stopovers, business travel and guests who need airport convenience.

Hotel, menu and sustainability information was checked against current official property pages and Booking.com listings on August 25, 2026. Menus, labels, certifications and availability can change. All featured kitchens handle animal products; reconfirm ingredients, allergens and cross-contact directly before booking or dining.
