Vegan Hotels Balearic Islands compares three genuinely useful island stays across Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera. The shortlist starts with a rare 100% vegan country hotel, then adds two Booking-listed properties whose current accommodation information explicitly documents vegan breakfast or restaurant choices.

The vegan standard is not identical at all three properties. Villa Vegana is fully vegan, while Menorca Experimental and Blanco Hotel Formentera operate mixed kitchens. At mixed hotels, “vegan-friendly” means that a plant-based option is documented; it does not guarantee a separate preparation area or a vegan choice at every service. Tell the hotel that you are vegan before arrival and reconfirm breads, pastries, sauces, buffet labels, shared utensils and cross-contact.

HOTEL 01 · FULLY VEGAN

Villa Vegana · Mallorca

The standout Balearic choice for travellers who want the entire accommodation and kitchen to be vegan.

Villa Vegana is a small family-run agrotourism hotel outside Selva, at the foot of Mallorca’s Tramuntana Mountains. The restored 15th-century manor house has four double rooms and four suites, a pool and broad countryside views. Its peaceful setting suits a slow rural stay rather than a Palma city break; a car is useful for exploring the island.

The hotel identifies itself as 100% vegan. Breakfast is included in the room rate and the current restaurant page describes a fully plant-based platter with homemade spreads, dips and sausages, tofu scramble, fruit with an oat bowl, pancakes and changing pastries. Dinner is also plant-based, internationally influenced and prepared with local vegetables and mostly organic products. Restaurant opening days differ from breakfast service, so check the current dinner schedule when planning your stay.

Villa Vegana sits within a designated conservation area on 30,000 square metres of land and is home to free-roaming rescued animals. The combination of an entirely vegan operation, small scale and mostly organic, locally sourced cooking makes it a meaningful inclusion even though the hotel is booked directly rather than through Booking.com.

  • Classification: Fully vegan hotel and restaurant.
  • Vegan highlight: Vegan breakfast is included, and the hotel’s food operation is entirely plant-based.
  • Location: Camí d’es Pedregar, outside Selva in rural northern Mallorca.
  • Sustainability: Set in a designated conservation area; the kitchen documents local vegetables and mostly organic products.
  • Best for: A fully vegan holiday, animal lovers, couples, families and quiet countryside stays.

HOTEL 02 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY

Menorca Experimental · Menorca

A design-led rural finca near the south coast with vegan breakfast and vegan restaurant options explicitly listed by Booking.com.

Menorca Experimental occupies a restored country estate in the Alaior area, a short drive from Son Bou. Its 43 rooms include nine with private pools, while the grounds add an infinity pool, spa, hammam and yoga. Direct access to the Camí de Cavalls helps active travellers connect the hotel with Menorca’s coast and countryside.

Booking.com currently lists continental, full English or Irish, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free breakfast choices. The same listing says the Mediterranean restaurant serves lunch and dinner with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. This remains a mixed kitchen, so ask which dishes are fully plant-based on your dates and request advance notice for a multi-course dinner or strict cross-contact needs.

The hotel’s official restaurant information emphasises fresh seasonal ingredients, with produce harvested from its own land and additional ingredients sourced from Menorcan producers. Its bar also prioritises local wines, small Spanish producers and locally sourced cocktail ingredients. A current property-level environmental certification was not found in the information reviewed, so these concrete food-sourcing practices are more useful than implying a broader eco claim.

  • Classification: Vegan-friendly; mixed hotel and mixed Mediterranean kitchen.
  • Vegan highlight: Vegan breakfast plus documented vegan choices at lunch and dinner.
  • Location: Rural Alaior, near Son Bou and with access to the Camí de Cavalls.
  • Sustainability: The hotel documents produce from its own land and ingredients from local Menorcan suppliers.
  • Best for: Design lovers, spa time, couples, countryside calm and exploring southern Menorca.

HOTEL 03 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY

Blanco Hotel Formentera · Formentera

A bright Es Pujols base with vegan breakfast clearly documented and the beach only a short walk away.

Blanco Hotel Formentera is a contemporary four-star hotel in Es Pujols. The official hotel information places it around 150 metres from the beach, while the town’s restaurants, shops and waterfront are also close at hand. Rooms have private terraces, and the property includes a large pool, gym, massage services and yoga sessions.

Booking.com currently lists continental, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices within the breakfast buffet. The hotel’s Carmen restaurant serves a broader Mediterranean menu from a mixed kitchen, but a permanent vegan dinner selection is not clearly documented on the official site. Breakfast is therefore the reliable plant-based meal; contact the team before arrival if you want dinner at the hotel rather than in Es Pujols.

The central location makes walking and cycling practical for short journeys, and the hotel publishes bicycle guidance for exploring Formentera. However, no current hotel-level environmental certification was found in the public property information reviewed. The hotel is included for its clearly listed vegan breakfast and useful car-light location, not for an unverified eco label.

  • Classification: Vegan-friendly; mixed hotel, buffet and Mediterranean restaurant.
  • Vegan highlight: Vegan breakfast is explicitly listed within the buffet.
  • Location: Calle Fonoll Marí 50 in Es Pujols, approximately 150 metres from the beach.
  • Sustainability: A walkable base with cycling guidance; no current property-level environmental certification was verified.
  • Best for: Beach access, first-time Formentera visits, couples and travellers who want restaurants nearby.
