Eating vegan in the UK starts with a good local guide.
Explore vegan restaurants in the UK through our England, Scotland and Northern Ireland hubs and 37 local guides. Find breakfast ideas, restaurant dinners and useful menu checks, with a clearly marked external starting point for Wales.

One UK gateway · Four nations
Choose a nation first, then a local guide. Our detailed restaurant coverage currently comes from England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Wales has a separately labelled external visitor resource, not additional local guides counted in the directory.

Open the Scotland hub →Explore Belfast and Derry / Londonderry for breakfast leads, Asian dishes, Indian dining, Mexican meals and bistro choices. Each city guide contains four restaurant or café profiles with menus, ordering notes and optional Google photos and maps.
Open the Northern Ireland hub →This directory does not yet include a dedicated Welsh restaurant guide. For a Cardiff visit, start with Visit Cardiff’s vegan and vegetarian guide, then check the individual venue’s current menu. It is a city resource, not coverage of all Wales.

For Wales, use the official external starting point above.
23 England guides + 12 Scotland guides + 2 Northern Ireland guides. Derry / Londonderry counts as one city guide. All links and expandable lists work without JavaScript. Nearby suggestions stay within their local articles and are not counted as extra guides. Directory checked .
More than one way to eat well
Choose a destination and a meal format. These examples point into the existing local guides; they are not national restaurant rankings.

A city break
The Scotland hub brings together café meals, vegan kitchens and mixed-menu alternatives. Start with Edinburgh or Glasgow, then check the local guide’s breakfast section and the chosen restaurant’s food-service window.

A different kind of meal
Use the Bristol guide to compare breakfast, mezze and comfort-food profiles, or open Birmingham for its mix of breakfast and restaurant occasions. These are browsing choices, not a suggested same-day route.

A coastal destination
The Brighton & Hove guide covers venues in Brighton itself, while the Portsmouth guide focuses on Southsea. Keep the restaurant’s actual address with your plans rather than treating the whole coastline as one dining area.
Destination images are site-created AI travel illustrations, not photographs of the restaurants.
Start the day with a plan
Choose between an early breakfast, a later café visit and a weekend brunch. The local guides identify the meal windows they could establish, and flag those that need confirmation. A café opening time alone does not promise a cooked vegan breakfast.
For a full breakfast, ask about the complete plate, including bread, spreads, sauces and any substitutions. Keep a hotel breakfast enquiry separate from a nearby restaurant recommendation.
Read the label, then the menu
The local guides separate the type of food from the type of venue. Use the individual profile and current menu to make the final choice.
A profile identifies a vegan food menu. Check its scope: food provision, drinks and the wider business are not always described in the same way.
A vegetarian venue may still use dairy or eggs. Select the vegan menu or the adaptation specifically described in the local guide.
A mixed-menu restaurant offers suitable dishes or substitutions. Include sauces, bread, sides and toppings when confirming the complete order.
The label describes the visit as well as the menu. A pastry stop, food-court meal or takeaway is not the same arrangement as a seated dinner.
Make the next meal easier
Use the hub for orientation, a local guide for your shortlist and the operator’s current menu for the final order.
Save the full street address and postcode. London and Birmingham here mean England; Perth and Hamilton mean Scotland; Belfast and Derry / Londonderry are in Northern Ireland. For Dublin or Cork, move to the Ireland hub.
Do not stop at the main ingredient. Check gravy, pastry, cooking fat, cheese, dressings and sides as relevant. A vegetarian menu or a plant-based burger patty does not establish the whole order.
Check breakfast cutoffs, brunch days, kitchen breaks and last food orders. Before a performance or onward journey, allow time to arrive, order and eat. Reconfirm holiday or seasonal notices.
A vegan label is not an allergen-free guarantee. Explain allergies separately and check the restaurant’s allergen information and preparation arrangements. See the Food Standards Agency’s guidance.
Pair the meal with a stay
The United Kingdom hotel hub links stays by nation and destination. Use it alongside your dining shortlist rather than treating accommodation and restaurant provision as the same thing.

It identifies all four nations. Its 37 detailed local guides currently cover England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Wales has a clearly marked external starting point rather than dedicated local restaurant articles in this directory.
No. The Republic of Ireland has a separate restaurant hub. Northern Ireland belongs in the UK section; Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick do not.
No. Local profiles distinguish fully vegan food, vegetarian venues with vegan choices and mixed-menu restaurants with suitable dishes or adaptations. Cafés, markets and takeaways are identified by their format.
London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast provide starting points. Derry / Londonderry adds a weekday café enquiry. Check the individual meal window and day; a breakfast section does not mean that every featured venue serves breakfast.
The searchable list counts our published local articles. For Cardiff, use the official external resource in the Wales card. Belfast and Derry / Londonderry now have their own guides under Northern Ireland. Missing local coverage is not a claim that there is no vegan food in a place.
Open a city or town guide for its optional Google photo and location panels. Those use the site’s Google Maps consent settings. This hub’s search works locally and needs no map service.
No. This is a checked directory of existing guides, not a fresh inspection of every restaurant. Local research dates and limitations remain with the profiles. Reconfirm current dishes, prices and service directly.
Directory checked 29 September 2026. This page connects the published England, Scotland and Northern Ireland hubs and their 37 local guides. Descriptions summarise those articles, not personal taste tests or new restaurant inspections. External visitor resources are labelled separately and excluded from the guide count.
All four destination images are existing site-created AI illustrations. They do not document a restaurant’s appearance or menu. Optional Google restaurant imagery remains in the local guides with its attribution.
