Vegan Hotels Linz compares three stays with documented plant-based breakfasts, from a sustainability-focused budget hotel to central bases beside major landmarks. BEE GREEN Linz has the clearest environmental programme, Motel One Linz-Hauptplatz publishes the broadest vegan range, and Hotel am Domplatz offers a boutique cathedral-side setting.

None is a fully vegan hotel. All serve mixed buffets containing animal-derived food, with no documented separate preparation areas. “Vegan-friendly” applies only to the options described below. Menus and suppliers can change; confirm bread and pastry ingredients, dairy, eggs, honey, shared utensils and allergy requirements before arrival.

HOTEL 01 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY

BEE GREEN Linz Self-Check-in-Hotel

The best sustainability-focused option in Linz, with several clearly described vegan breakfast components and unusually detailed resource-saving measures for a budget hotel.

BEE GREEN stands on Hanuschstraße near the Neuromed Campus, WIFI Linz, Techbase Linz, Hummelhof recreation area and a motorway junction. Official regional tourism information places it approximately 3.3 kilometres from the centre. The three-star self-check-in hotel suits drivers, business visits and travellers favouring green space over an Old Town address. Digital access and an in-building supermarket support an independent stay, but sightseers should plan on public transport.

The hotel says vegan guests are catered for at breakfast and identifies vegan dairy alternatives and spreads, certified-organic plant drinks, fruit, vegetables, juice and organic muesli. It does not identify every bread or pastry as vegan, while the same buffet includes dairy, eggs, meat and honey. Strict vegan guests should ask staff to identify suitable baked goods and confirm whether separate utensils are available.

The hotel reports using ecological cleaning products, curtains made from 100% recycled material and acoustic elements made from recyclable Austrian sheep’s wool. Its digital guest system reduces printing, while breakfast purchasing prioritises regional, organic and Fairtrade products where possible. Chlorine-free laundering by a regional laundry is another stated measure. These are specific self-reported practices, not a property-wide environmental certification.

  • Classification: Vegan-friendly; conventional hotel with a mixed breakfast buffet.
  • Vegan highlight: Certified-organic plant drinks, dairy alternatives, vegan spreads, fruit, vegetables, juices and organic muesli.
  • Location: Hanuschstraße 32, around 3.3 kilometres from central Linz and near Hummelhof, Neuromed Campus and the motorway.
  • Sustainability: Recycled curtains, ecological cleaning, regional laundering, digital guest services and regional, organic or Fairtrade purchasing where possible.
  • Best for: Eco-minded budget travellers, self-check-in convenience, road trips and practical stays south of the centre.

HOTEL 02 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY

Motel One Linz-Hauptplatz

The strongest combination of a walk-everywhere location and a broad published vegan breakfast range, directly on Linz’s historic main square.

Motel One occupies a listed building at Hauptplatz 10–11 in the Old Town, close to the Danube. From the Hauptplatz tram stop, journeys across Linz are straightforward, while the Lentos Art Museum, riverside, Linz Castle and Ars Electronica Center are accessible on foot. The hotel has no private car park; paid public parking is available beneath Hauptplatz, making rail, tram, walking or cycling more attractive.

Motel One says its full vegan breakfast range is available at all German and Austrian hotels. Published items include oat milk, vegan Gouda-style cheese, paprika sausage and feta-style alternatives, savoury spreads, vegan bionella, fruit preserves, organic bread and rolls, tomatoes and cucumbers. The result is credible sweet and savoury choice, but the buffet also serves dairy, eggs and meat. The bar is not a full dinner restaurant; confirm current stock and shared handling when a particular product or allergy protocol matters.

The property is Green Key certified, while the urban breakfast programme prioritises organic, Fairtrade and regional products and carries partial organic certification under AT-Bio-902. Guests can also opt out of daily housekeeping. A tram interchange and walkable central sights support a car-light stay. The breakfast certification does not establish vegan food-handling controls, so guests with allergies should still ask about shared utensils and preparation.

  • Classification: Vegan-friendly; design hotel with a mixed organic breakfast buffet.
  • Vegan highlight: Plant milk, vegan cheese and sausage alternatives, savoury spreads, organic bread and fresh produce.
  • Location: Directly on Hauptplatz, beside a major tram stop and a short walk from the Danube and central museums.
  • Sustainability: Green Key certification, a partially certified organic breakfast, Fairtrade products, optional reduced housekeeping and an excellent car-light location.
  • Best for: First-time visitors, weekend breaks, central sightseeing and the broadest documented vegan breakfast choice.

HOTEL 03 · VEGAN-FRIENDLY

Hotel am Domplatz

The boutique choice for adults, with vegan breakfast provision and an exceptional setting immediately beside the Mariendom.

Hotel am Domplatz is a four-star, adults-only property for guests aged 16 and over. Some contemporary rooms look towards Austria’s largest cathedral. The hotel places the Old Town, Landstraße and major attractions within roughly five minutes on foot. Public parking, good transport access and a secured bicycle garage make this an atmospheric, practical base for couples or solo travellers.

The official breakfast page says vegan guests can find suitable favourites and that many ingredients are local, seasonal and selected with sustainability in mind. Breakfast is a mixed buffet, with a summer terrace facing the cathedral. No itemised vegan list is published, and an external catering partner is named. Notify the hotel before arrival and request details of plant-based breads, pastries, spreads and hot choices.

Walkability is the clearest sustainability advantage, while secured bicycle storage supports active travel. Regional and seasonal breakfast sourcing is another positive self-reported measure. No current property-wide environmental certification was identified, so this is not labelled an eco-hotel. The hotel’s homepage currently says its spa is closed for modernisation until further notice, so it is not treated here as an available facility.

  • Classification: Vegan-friendly; adults-only boutique hotel with a mixed breakfast buffet.
  • Vegan highlight: Officially confirmed vegan breakfast provision, although individual products are not listed and advance contact is advisable.
  • Location: Domplatz 5 beside the Mariendom, within a short walk of the Old Town, Landstraße and cultural attractions.
  • Sustainability: Many ingredients described as local and seasonal, plus excellent walkability and secured bicycle storage; no independent green certification verified.
  • Best for: Adults, couples, cathedral views, boutique design and a quiet but highly central city break.

Choosing a vegan-friendly hotel in Linz

BEE GREEN Linz is the best match for documented environmental measures, Motel One Linz-Hauptplatz offers the broadest clearly published vegan breakfast and the most convenient Old Town setting, and Hotel am Domplatz is the strongest boutique choice for adults who want to stay beside the cathedral.

For meals beyond breakfast, the official Linz Tourism gastronomy guide and restaurant finder provide a useful starting point, but dietary details should still be checked with each venue. Linz Tourism describes Charmanter Elefant at the Tabakfabrik as serving dishes most of which are vegan or vegetarian. That combined wording does not make it a fully vegan restaurant, and menus, daytime hours and events can change, so verify current vegan dishes before making a special journey.
