Ireland city guide · Research checked 16 September 2026
Searching for vegan-friendly hotels in Cork? This guide compares three different city stays: The Metropole in the Victorian Quarter, The River Lee beside the water, and Hayfield Manor in a garden setting. Each publishes useful vegan food information, from a named cooked breakfast to clearly labelled restaurant dishes. The aim is to find a hotel that fits your days as well as your diet.
Which Cork hotel fits your trip?
Shortlist The Metropole Hotel Cork when a documented vegan breakfast is your priority. Compare The River Lee for a riverside stay with plant-based mains at The River Club. Choose Hayfield Manor for a garden-hotel setting and an advance-planned meal from its vegetarian-and-vegan selection. These are different styles of stay, not a numbered quality ranking.

Three vegan-friendly Cork stays at a glance
Choose the setting before the meal package
The Metropole is on MacCurtain Street in Cork's Victorian Quarter. The River Lee has a Western Road address, while Hayfield Manor is on Perrott Avenue, off College Road, beside University College Cork. Their different locations are worth comparing against the places you plan to visit; a city-wide hotel search does not make every address equally convenient. [1] [4] [8]
For a short visit, our suggestion is to choose between a town-centre street setting, time beside the river and a garden-led hotel stay. Then look at the actual room category, travel arrangements and the meals you will use on site. Avoid comparing a room-only offer with a breakfast-inclusive rate as though they provide the same stay.
Vegan-friendly hotels in Cork city
Stay 01 · Published vegan breakfast · Victorian Quarter
The Metropole Hotel Cork
Location: MacCurtain Street, Victorian Quarter, Cork, T23 EEC3
Consider it for: a city break with a substantial plant-based breakfast already on the menu
The Metropole offers a MacCurtain Street base with several dining spaces, including The Met Restaurant & Bar. Breakfast is served in The Merchant, which the hotel describes as overlooking the River Lee. That provides a defined place to start the day rather than leaving you to work out which hotel outlet handles breakfast. [1] [2]
The summer breakfast PDF linked from the hotel's dedicated breakfast page explicitly offers a plant-based vegan breakfast. It combines vegan sausages with beans, a hash brown, tomato, mushrooms and spinach. The named dish is the relevant evidence here: other breakfast choices on the same sheet include dairy, eggs or honey and should not be treated as suitable by default. [3]
The breakfast page publishes service from 7:00–10:00 on weekdays and 7:00–10:30 at weekends. Confirm the current window for your dates, especially when coordinating an early departure. The PDF is a summer-menu snapshot, not a promise of an unchanged dish throughout the year. Ask about the current version if this breakfast is a deciding factor. [2] [3]
Our suggested approach is to reserve the room that suits your plans, confirm the morning meal and keep lunch or dinner flexible until you have seen the relevant menus. The breakfast evidence does not establish a dedicated vegan evening menu at The Met. For a family, ask about portions and any extra bread or plant drinks at the same time, rather than assuming every addition is covered by the room rate.
Stay 02 · Named vegan mains · Riverside dining
The River Lee
Location: Western Road, Cork, T12 X2AH
Consider it for: a riverside hotel with several restaurant choices to plan around
The River Lee is part of The Doyle Collection and has The River Club as its dining destination. Within it, the Bar & Terrace and the Grill Room have separate menus and service arrangements. That distinction is useful when choosing a meal: a dish you spot on one menu should not automatically be expected in the other room. [4] [5]
The operator-linked June 2026 bar menu marks a vegetable balti curry and a miso-ramen dish with tofu as vegan. The curry's optional chicken or prawn additions are separate from the plant-based base dish. For a different evening, the Grill Room's linked menu identifies an oyster-mushroom tempura main as vegan. These are named restaurant choices, not an inference based on the presence of vegetables. [6] [7]
Read VE as vegan and V as vegetarian on these menus. Cheese-containing dishes and standard desserts remain part of the wider mixed offer. The River Club also advertises weekend brunch from noon: that should not be confused with a hotel breakfast available before a morning excursion. Establish the early meal separately. [5] [6]
For a food-led weekend, our suggestion is to agree one dinner at the venue whose menu appeals to you, then leave room for the rest of the city. Check whether a dining allowance applies to that restaurant and whether the current vegan selection differs from the linked PDF. Choose the room on its own merits; a river-view category is not a requirement for requesting vegan food.
Stay 03 · Vegan dishes by arrangement · Garden hotel
Hayfield Manor
Location: Perrott Avenue, College Road, Cork, T12 HT97
Consider it for: a garden-hotel break with an advance-planned restaurant meal
Hayfield Manor is a family-owned hotel set within walled gardens beside University College Cork. Its dining spaces include Perrotts Garden Bistro and Orchids. The setting makes it a different option from a hotel directly on MacCurtain Street or the riverside: consider it when time in the hotel is part of the holiday, rather than simply a place to sleep between outings. [8]
The hotel's vegetarian-and-vegan dining page explicitly says that both restaurants offer suitable choices and asks for advance booking when dietary requirements need accommodating. Its linked sample menu includes a vegan shallot-and-tomato tart, a chocolate-and-almond tart with vegan ice cream, and a coconut dessert identified as vegan. These give a concrete basis for discussing a main course and dessert. [9] [10]
The menu is shared with vegetarian dishes, some of which contain cheese. Choose items explicitly marked vegan and confirm the accompaniments; the title of a combined vegetarian-and-vegan menu does not make every course plant-based. It is also a sample, so request the current selection before arranging a special dinner around one particular dish. [10]
Our suggestion is to name the restaurant, preferred evening and the meals you need when contacting reservations. Ask about breakfast separately, including a filling cooked choice and a plant drink. For a longer stay, request some variety beyond the sample dishes. Then compare accommodation offers on their actual inclusions, without assuming that the dietary request requires the most expensive room or dining package.
Vegan breakfast in Cork: distinguish breakfast from brunch
Make the first morning reliable
The Metropole's named cooked breakfast provides a direct starting point. At The River Lee and Hayfield Manor, ask for the morning meal independently from the restaurant menus discussed above. Include bread, spreads, a plant drink and the time you need to eat. [3]
Check the venue and service
A noon brunch does not solve an early breakfast, and a bistro menu is not a room-service menu. When booking a restaurant, name the correct outlet. Check any included dining allowance against that venue and your chosen serving time.
Plan the stay and agree the meals
Start with the room and the part of the city that best fits your plans. Then arrange a dependable breakfast and, when useful, a first-evening dinner. For a short break, this can leave more flexibility than purchasing a large meal package before you know which hotel restaurants you will use.
We eat vegan, without meat, fish, seafood, animal stock, dairy, butter, eggs or honey. Please suggest a complete breakfast and two suitable main courses for our dates, including sauces and sides. Which restaurant serves each meal, what is included in our selected rate, and do you need advance notice?
Keep the response with your booking and reconfirm a special dinner or early breakfast before travelling. Mention children's portions or other practical needs in the same request. Discuss any allergy separately with the kitchen: vegan suitability does not establish allergy safety. For stays elsewhere in the country, see our existing Ireland hotel overview.
Vegan-friendly Cork hotels: FAQ
Are these Cork hotels completely vegan?
No. They have mixed kitchens with vegan dishes or dietary arrangements. The guide focuses on documented food options, not whole-property vegan certification.
Which hotel has a named vegan cooked breakfast?
The Metropole's operator-linked summer breakfast menu explicitly identifies a plant-based vegan plate. Ask whether that version is available on your dates and included in your room offer. [3]
Are The River Club's vegetarian dishes all vegan?
No. Its menus distinguish V for vegetarian from VE for vegan. Select the vegan-marked dishes and avoid animal-based supplements unless you are ordering them for someone else. [6]
Should vegan guests notify Hayfield Manor in advance?
Yes. Its dining page requests advance booking for dietary requirements. Agree the restaurant, current dishes and any breakfast request before your visit. [9]
Does this guide cover West Cork countryside hotels?
No. It covers three hotels in Cork city. A country-house or coastal stay elsewhere in County Cork needs its own location and dining research.
Is a vegan dinner menu evidence of a vegan breakfast?
No. Different outlets and kitchens can have different menus. Confirm the complete morning meal, serving time and price separately rather than extending a dinner-menu label to breakfast.
