Ireland city guide · Research checked 16 September 2026

Looking for vegan-friendly hotels in Dublin? A cooked plant-based breakfast can make an early sightseeing day easier, while a hotel with a dedicated vegan dinner menu gives you an appealing reason to stay in for the evening. This guide compares three city-centre options: The Castle Hotel, The College Green Hotel Dublin and The Merrion. Their food offers are documented, but they suit different kinds of stay.

Which Dublin hotel should you shortlist?

Start with The Castle Hotel for a Georgian-townhouse setting and a named vegan cooked breakfast. Compare The College Green Hotel Dublin for a central address beside Trinity College and a more extensive breakfast selection. Choose The Merrion as a dinner-led option, with seasonal vegan dining in The Garden Room. The profiles below explain the evidence and the questions worth settling before booking.

Vegan-friendly, not fully vegan: these are conventional hotels with mixed kitchens. A suitable breakfast or a restaurant's vegan menu does not describe every meal, drink, room material or hotel service. Our recommendations concern the documented food offer.

Three vegan-friendly Dublin stays at a glance

Choose your Dublin base around your days

The three addresses give you different starting points. The Castle Hotel is at Gardiner Row and Great Denmark Street in Dublin 1. The College Green Hotel looks towards Trinity College from Westmoreland Street, while The Merrion is on Upper Merrion Street in Dublin 2. Check the exact address rather than treating every city-centre hotel as interchangeable. [1] [3] [6]

For a short break, our suggestion is to plot your first evening and your earliest morning before comparing room offers. A breakfast you can eat at the right time may be more useful than a long facilities list. For an occasion-focused stay, a restaurant reservation and the room you prefer might matter more. These profiles do not rank hotels by live price; compare your actual dates and cancellation conditions.

Vegan-friendly hotels in Dublin

Stay 01 · Vegan cooked breakfast · Georgian character

The Castle Hotel

Location: Gardiner Row / Great Denmark Street, Dublin 1
Consider it for: a traditional city stay with a straightforward plant-based start

The Castle Hotel occupies nine Georgian townhouses and combines rooms with restaurants, a garden terrace and a cellar bar featuring Irish music. It is a useful option to compare when you prefer a historic-house setting to a contemporary business hotel. Family rooms are also offered, although the room arrangement you need should be checked against the exact booking category. [1]

Its published breakfast menu explicitly names a Vegan Breakfast. The plate combines plant-based sausages with mushrooms, beans, tomato and hash browns. This is a substantial cooked option, not simply the meat-free remainder of a standard breakfast. The separate vegetarian version includes an egg, so use the vegan dish name when ordering. [2]

The hotel posts breakfast service from 7:30 to 10:30 daily. Match that window to your itinerary: it does not establish that a full cooked meal will be available before an early airport departure. Ask separately about any packed or early breakfast, and confirm bread, spreads and a plant drink if you plan to add them to the plate. [2]

Our suggested approach is to shortlist the Castle for breakfast first, then decide whether to use its restaurants for other meals after reviewing the current choices. A documented morning dish is not evidence of an all-day vegan menu. Compare the total room-and-breakfast offer on your chosen channel rather than assuming every displayed rate has the same inclusions.

Food basis: an explicitly named vegan breakfast on the hotel's own menu. Conventional hotel dining; other meals and additions need their own check.

Stay 02 · Dedicated breakfast selection · College Green

The College Green Hotel Dublin, Autograph Collection

Location: College Green, Westmoreland Street, Dublin, D02 HR67
Consider it for: a central hotel with several documented plant-based morning choices

Set across historic banking buildings beside Trinity College, The College Green Hotel combines rooms and suites with Morelands restaurant, the Atrium Lounge and the Mint Bar in a former bank vault. That creates a different atmosphere from the Castle's townhouse setting. Compare it when the College Green address and a more elaborate hotel breakfast are both part of the appeal. [3]

Morelands links a dedicated vegan breakfast menu. Alongside a plant-based full Irish plate, it lists oats prepared with water or plant milk, mushrooms and avocado on sourdough, and an oat-based bowl with fruit and peanut butter. These give you alternatives to the same cooked breakfast on successive mornings. They remain menu examples, not a promise that every ingredient will be available on your dates. [5]

Read the drinks separately: the PDF also contains standard milk-based beverages and dairy allergen markings. Explicitly request plant milk in your coffee and clarify any smoothie instead of assuming everything printed on a vegan-branded sheet is automatically suitable. Morelands publishes breakfast from 7:00–10:00 on weekdays and 7:00–11:00 at weekends. Confirm the applicable service before an early outing. [4] [5]

For a longer weekend, our suggestion is to compare the breakfast supplement with the mornings you will actually use it. The menu does not establish inclusion in every room rate. Afternoon tea in the Atrium or dinner at Morelands is a separate enquiry; neither should be presented as a vegan package simply because breakfast is well documented.

Food basis: a restaurant-linked vegan breakfast menu with multiple dishes. Specify drink substitutions and check the meal inclusion on your selected rate.

Stay 03 · Seasonal vegan dining · Georgian hotel

The Merrion

Location: Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2, D02 KF79
Consider it for: a hotel-led break with a planned vegan restaurant evening

The Merrion brings together four restored Georgian townhouses, rooms and suites, gardens and several distinct dining spaces. Its Garden Room, Cellar Bar and other venues should be considered individually rather than as one interchangeable menu. The accommodation is a useful contrast for travellers who want to spend meaningful time in the hotel, not only return there at the end of a sightseeing day. [6]

The hotel's own vegan-dining page describes a seasonal vegan menu in The Garden Room, with starters, mains and desserts. It runs alongside the restaurant's conventional all-day selection. That is a stronger basis for planning a complete restaurant meal than inferring suitability from a single vegetable side, while still being clearly different from a fully vegan restaurant. [7]

Because the menu is seasonal, ask for the current courses when reserving instead of expecting a dish mentioned in an older travel feature. Specify The Garden Room: this evidence does not establish the same menu at Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, the Cellar Bar, afternoon tea or room service. Those are separate dining arrangements. [6] [7]

Our suggestion is to anchor an occasion-focused visit around one agreed dinner, then compare rooms on space, outlook and cancellation terms. Breakfast deserves its own question; the dedicated vegan-dining page does not describe the complete morning meal. A room reservation should not be treated as a restaurant reservation or as confirmation that an adapted menu is included in the price.

Food basis: an operator-described seasonal vegan menu at a named restaurant. Breakfast and dining in other hotel venues are assessed separately.

Vegan hotel breakfast in Dublin: compare the whole morning

One plate or several choices?

The Castle documents a cooked vegan plate; Morelands provides a wider breakfast selection. Choose around your appetite and the number of mornings you will eat in. At The Merrion, obtain a separate breakfast proposal rather than extending the dinner-menu claim to the morning. [2] [5] [7]

Check what surrounds the dish

Bread, spreads, toppings and coffee matter too. Ask about butter, milk, egg and honey in anything added to the plate. An early departure also needs a timing question: a suitable menu is not helpful when its service starts after you must leave.

A practical plan before you book

Start with the hotel address and room category, then agree the meals you expect to eat there. For a two-night break, dependable breakfasts and one reserved dinner may be sufficient; leave other meals flexible around your outings. Compare the complete rate, including breakfast charges and cancellation conditions, rather than an isolated room headline.

We eat vegan, without meat, fish, seafood, animal stock, dairy, butter, eggs or honey. Please confirm a complete breakfast for our dates, including bread and a plant drink. We would also like one vegan dinner: which restaurant serves it, how much notice is needed, and what is included in our chosen room rate?

Keep the kitchen or reservations reply with your booking. Mention children's portions or an early departure at the same time, and discuss any allergy separately: a vegan label is not an allergy-safety guarantee. For accommodation beyond the capital, browse our existing Ireland hotel overview.
